jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Anyone going to the game tomorrow? Yep. Probably going to end up going by myself if i cant get anyone else to come with.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 That last pitch from Casey was a beaut! Looked like that wipeout slider that Sergio could only get over the plate 10% of the time.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Someone post the nerd clapping in the stands. That was probably Grant. Heard he was visiting from North Bay.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 again................. Selig, you could cancel the rest of the season and send the Cardinals to toronto to start the world series! ftfy.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Just watching CJ close out games is so much more comforting than watching Santos. It goes to show you that xFIP isn't the be-all and end-all stat for pitchers. You always have to take other things into factor.

JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 How refreshing it is to look through various MLB Power Rankings and see the Jays unanimously in the top 6 or 7. Its been a while.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Has anyone swung on an intentional walk? Ty Cobb once stepped out of the box on an intentional walk attemps and hit a homerun. When he reached home, the umpire called him out because he had stepped out of the batter's box.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Maddon on Jays: "They're no fun right now. Everything they've got going on right now seems to be working"
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I think he thinks we're stealing signs again.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Cobb: "I've had worse outcomes on comebackers. You hope when it does happen it hits you in a meaty spot on the body and this time it did.” Maddon on the Jays: “There’s no break in their lineup right now.”
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Everyone came through tonight. It's just a good game when everyone's swingin and playin hard. Reyes might have botched 2, but he still was the proponent to get 2 runs back - I am okay with that

Anyway, keep hatin' the guy, that gimp stole his 11th bag tonight.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 TSN has them at #3. They should be second right behind San Fran
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 They should be second right behind San Fran Not when their pitching staff and a whole leaves a lot to be desired.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Article by Jamie Ross/MLB.com describes it nicely: "Cobb navigated the minefield that is the Blue Jays' batting order with efficiency in the early going, but hit a speed bump in the fourth before running into a wall in the fifth, as Toronto won its eighth straight game."
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 How was he hatin on the guy? Oh come on, lots of people hate on the guy. Anyway, it don't matter anyway.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 This comment made me laugh even though it was an attack on the Jays: "RaysofourLives8 minutes ago Cobb I agree with you buddy about the worst pitch being the 3-0 to that ashole but when you think about it if you walk him then you have that fing redbeard idiot coming up with 2 on and that crazy dominican idiot after him so after thinking about it I actually like going after him 3-0. You had some filthy some out there buddy just some lucky grounders and idiots swinging with there eyes closed. Congratulations on the Rays scoreless inning streak record.

kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Not when their pitching staff and a whole leaves a lot to be desired. Bull pen pitched too many innings at the start and hasn't been good since. Delabar has not had his command and Cecil has been inconsistent. Only Casey has been dependable every time out. If Santos gets healthy and pitching well, has command of his slider then I honestly can see Delabar going down. Have No idea where Happ,s 95 mph came from but his last start was good so hats off to Walker if he can keep him pitching like this. Hendriks got lucky last time out with lots of balls up in the zone. He better start pitching down in the Zone or will get lit up. Hutch had a great start with Kratz behind the plate then a 5 inning start and now a 5inning 5 run start with Navarro. Like Navarro,s bat but would love to see Kratz catch him the next time out.

He's always struck out his fair share of batters for a guy who doesn't get a lot of credit for his stuff. The organization obviously traded for Happ thinking he had another step up. I really can't blame them even though in never really panned out so far. Just a little improvement on his command and he'd definitely be a very solid MLB pitcher.
Convo Verified Member Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Delabar has not had his command and Cecil has been inconsistent. His velocity is down and his stuff is not as good, he's not striking as many out. -Swinging strikes w/o contact down 5% from last year. -Average velocity down 1.1 mph from last year -Max velocity down 2.5 mph from last year -Stuff not as good Conclusion: He needs to go back and redo the "Steve Delebar Throwing Program"
