How do you fellas feel about Oneil Cruz these days. I've been holding on to him forever in a 14 team dynasty. But I'm flush at SS with both Bo and Mookie Betts in the fold.

 

Seems like in a 14 teamer he's probably not going to be as good as I was hoping. I could trade him for SP which I need though it's a pitching heavy league so the return is going to be some sort of Top 40 SP.

 

I'm kind of inclined to just hang on to him and see if he explodes. Or is now the time to sell?

Sell sell sell! Not as big of a sell as Elly De La Cruz, but I think the value of both of those guys has far exceeded what they will actually do

I love Freddy Peralta. Huge K rates and still only 27. He will turn out a Cy Young season soon IMO.

I have 1.2 in a league.. It will def net me either Langford or Yamomoto. I think the 1.1 is going to pick Yamomoto, but not sure.. I know he wants Langford, but doesn't want to let Yamomoto fall..

 

I have received a number of solid offers for 1.2.

That's not bad. I'd have to do more research but wouldn't Montgomery be a top 5 pick in a FYPD if eligible?

I think he would be. His rankings vary, but he is consistently high across the board.

Annual tradition, going to make a new draft n hold league so I can do a draft.

 

I'm thinking this year...

 

- Draft and Hold with no adds, drops, or trades

- Roto

- basic 5x5 stats

- weekly lineups!

- deep rosters but fairly standard active lineup size

 

So it's draft and hold but you need to make a weekly lineup setting decision every Sunday or Monday

 

Like the post if you would join

 

Maybe a slow draft?

 

Made league, 9 in so far so it's definitely running but more people would be better

Injuries and such happen, redrafts are normally done in mid-to late March. Idk.

Going to change the draft timelines a bit as it might attract a few more owners. This is the new plan:

 

Once we get to 12+ owners we will close the league and begin the draft. Currently there are 10 owners. We can take up to 20 though.

 

The draft will start "soon" as an offline draft but it will have massive 20 hour windows, so there is no pressure. Then later in February or first week of March if the draft is still going we will drop windows to 1 hour just to get it done.

 

So, this will be a super chill slow offline draft. Lots of time to do research and whatnot.

Cabrera has the highest upside by far, but has control issues. His stuff is elite. He rocked a 6 BB/9 and 4.20 xFIP in 2023. Crazy.

 

That said, based on present value I would rank Lodolo 1st, and a 2nd place tie between Harrison and Cabrera.

Thanks. Yeah, I was pretty surprised when I saw Cabrera's statcast page, except for the walk rate. I have Taj Bradley who I can trade for Cabrera. Would you do it?

Flip a coin. Cabrera has the higher upside, Bradley the higher floor.

Thanks for all the help. I'm really bad at evaluating young pitching. One last question. Would you keep a player like Drew Rasmussen over Harrison and Bradley. Rasmussen is only 28 and he was so good before the injury. Not sure if he can bounce back to his old form?

 

I'm on a roster crunch and have to pick two of the following for the pitching side: Rasmussen, Bradley, Harrison

...and other injured pitchers (Springs, Robbie Ray, and Scherzer).

I would be picking the two young guys I think have the most secure jobs for 2024

 

Harrison, Bradley, Lodolo, Cabrera all have sky high ceilings but each has a playing time question mark for 2024 or in Cabrera's case some gas can risk

 

I feel like Lodolo has the best projections but Harrison might have the most secure rotation spot right now? Maybe those two?

 

Some concern SFG might not let Harrison pitch like a normal SP.

 

Wouldn't keep an injured arm like Rasmussen over any of these kids
