John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I think we got real lucky tonite but I'll take a win any way we get them Same. Hendricks really didn't pitch that well, but the W for the team is all that matters
Bunchedundies Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 If Dickey has the knuckler working tomorrow.....would be big to win the first 2.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Man 2 of 3 against Oakland would be a huge confidence builder....... Of course I'd rather have the sweep, but you can't win every game from here on out
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 BoSox/TB Deadlocked at 0 - 0 - 8th. Bal 8 - 4 Cle - last inning and NYY 3 - 1 Sox - 4th inning. Shrugs, we won't make distance, but at least we'll keep it.

starfield Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I can see why the A's are such an elite team. Never gives an out away and takes walks

awsomest Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I know the numbers would suggest that the closer position is overrated but is it? A guy like Jansen is huge and what would you get for him in return in a trade?.... not much I think the closer position is getting close to being underrated, at least if you have a great closer.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 How much better would we be if Janssen was pitching in place of that f***ing gascan in the 9th earlier in the year?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 He's converted 62 of his last 67 save opportunities. 93% Give him the ball with the lead in the 9th and you're going to win the game. Remember when people were saying Santos is better? LOL
kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 It seems to be the mindset of some individuals here to try to pull down others based on their looks/weight etc but it must be based on jealousy. After all, these "fat/ugly" players are out-earning them and most probably getting more chicks than they can possibly get. Nope, I bitch about him cause he has talent and if he worked at it could be decent but he gets lazy which is why Tampa and LA got rid of him. JPA was arrogant and could only hit the HR once in a while but he was in shape played hurt and worked hard. Navarro has way more talent than JPA but doesn't use it.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Remember when people were saying Santos is better? LOL Probably one of the most satisfying parts of this season to see that insane debate be put to rest. Santos can't even hold Janssen's jock.

I am starting to agree...and I was a guy who said the closer position was overrated.
bronson44 Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 lol Tolleson and Pillar won us this one
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 How much better would we be if Janssen was pitching in place of that f***ing gascan in the 9th earlier in the year? Oh stop it... Every HR and BB Santos allowed was complete luck. God himself on most days would whiff to that "nasty slider".
kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Remember when people were saying Santos is better? LOL Casey gets no respect but he gets results. Still I do hope Santos gets healthy as there are times when he can be a lites out setup guy and with starters going 5 and 6 innings all the time we can use another lites out guy

I agree Santos has nastier stuff then janssen but I would take the consistency over the stuff 365 days of the year, especially at the end of the game in close games.

The stat nerds have delegitimized the closers role because they don't account for human emotion on a sports field. It's as clear as day that getting the final 3 outs is a tense as f*** situation.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Probably one of the most satisfying parts of this season to see that insane debate be put to rest. Santos can't even hold Janssen's jock. Apparently advanced stats says otherwise.
