fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2014 Author Posted May 16, 2014 you guys make it sound like that play was routine...it wasn't...reyes has scored 11 runs in his last 10 games....that's what he gets paid to do... He gets payed to do it all for $22 million. At least with Yunel we get GG caliber defense and health. Reyes can hit. s*** I'm not even counting running as a pro anymore because everytime he pulls up from a slide he seems to be holding his hamstring. The dude is fragile
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 lol @ giving money to charity. 60%-80% of your money will be going to admin costs. If you want to give back to society, volunteer or help people out personally. The foundation I've been involved with runs admin costs under 20%...not all charities gouge....but I agree you have to be aware that some are above 50% and that's ridiculous.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Good, they're taking Axford out. Now I won't feel bad about us scoring insurance runs lol
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 $256,000 grand total for the auction lol

That is a rarity. All of this pink s*** related to "breast cancer awareness" (note that very little money actually goes to cancer research) makes me f***ing sick. Susan G Komen is the devil personified. You can't say negative about breast cancer charities to anyone in public because you'll be labeled as a woman hater. It's just a massive scam. They've created this culture of guilt/shame. Would never donate a f***ing dime to any of these organizations.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Nobody is hating reyes as a person. People have all the right to get frustrated with a player you traded a ton for, and paying 22 million a year for. I never said he's being hated on as a person. Reyes the player is fine, he didn't offer himself 22M and AA didn't trade for Reyes alone, it so happens that the trade has been so bad that all the Jays have in return is Reyes and Buehrle. Early on last year, many were hatin' on good ol' Buehrle. Again, blame AA for not getting a discount for the back-loaded contracts he agreed to take on.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 $256,000 grand total for the auction lol Would make more sense if rogers matched it, they make that in a day

jays76 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Yawn Gomes, what a player! Esmil Rogers not so much..
kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Those CEO's of charities fly first class everywhere, take limos to and from the airports, and likely when out of town spend a boatload on dinner and drinks. Charities are the biggest scam. Just like Alberta,s politicians
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 The Terry Fox Foundation is a good charity. Most of the work is done by volunteers and they give money for actual cancer research not useless awareness campaigns like Run for the Cure does.

Errors are not the right way to evaluate a player's defense. Yunel got to more balls and covered way more ground than Reyes. That's not even debatable. And at $5M you don't expect him to be putting Reyes numbers. But value wise, Yunel's $5M salary easily is more valuable than Reyes's $22M salary

Escobar is like 2X the defender Reyes is. Watch some Rays games. They're not even on the same planet. Yunel's range in both directions is fantastic. Arm strength is comparable but range wise... Not even close.

You expect him to hit for power? Look, you've gotta accept that Escobar was given away because of the "maricon" incident. This is the way this franchise is run, don't blame Reyes for that. Reyes has a history of getting injured and it's for all to see, blame AA for being dumb.

Would never donate a f***ing dime to any of these organizations. about 5.5 mil a year and admin comes in under 8% and the event that raises the money costs about 10 to 12% depending on how much is raised...but the amount of volunteer time is outstanding and renovating the office every other year and upgrading technology every 6 months is not really a priority....I agree though breast cancer is one of the worst.

This is the way your favorite team is run. If it wasn't run this way, Reyes isn't here. Don't blame the player, blame your favorite team for being run this way.
