Jays: Dickey allowed one run and five hits while matching his season high of six strikeouts with no walks in 6.1 innings of Sunday's 7-1 victory over Boston. He was 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA while issuing 11 walks in 17.1 innings over his three previous outings. Dickey has a 2.06 ERA while going 3-2 over his last five starts against the Pirates, including a pair of complete games. He's split two visits to Pittsburgh, yielding two earned runs with 15 strikeouts and two walks in 15 innings. Mark Buehrle and Melky Cabrera were co-winners of the Honda Player of the Month award for April as selected by the Toronto Chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Buehrle posted a 4-1 record through five starts in April with a 2.16 ERA. Cabrera, meanwhile, led all Major Leaguers with 41 hits, posting a .342 batting average with 15 extra base hits and 11 RBIs. The Blue Jays have now posted back-to-back losing records in March/April. They went 12-15 this season after a 10-17 mark in 2013. It's the first time that has happened since 2002-04. Pirates: Liriano earned a 7-2 win in his most recent start against the Blue Jays on Aug. 16, 2012, allowing two runs in 6.1 innings for the Chicago White Sox. He had lost each of his previous three starts versus Toronto behind a 5.74 ERA. Alvarez is 7/19 (.368) with three RBIs over the past four games, increasing his season average 35 points to .204. Marte is 7 for 12 with three RBIs in the past three games. Last year, Pittsburgh's pitching staff recorded a 1.63 ERA in 10 games against American League teams at PNC Park. Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Why would you put Thole against a tough lefty when you have a (much better) right-handed catcher? Oh right, personal catcher...
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Ca mon, Bluejays! Let's not suck tonight!
GoldBull Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I like our chances tonight. Liriano is 0-3.
LunchBox Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I'd be interested to know if Liriano's career or 2013 L/R splits would have justified starting Sierra (not necessarily in CF) rather than Rasmus?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 Batting projections and team pitching are the same image for the jays thanks! Fixed!
LunchBox Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I'd be interested to know if Liriano's career or 2013 L/R splits would have justified starting Sierra (not necessarily in CF) rather than Rasmus? Huh? Sierra's been DFA'd. Did you miss the whole DFA and claimed thing? Lol Definitely did not miss it, was practically the high point of my week. I suppose "would have" was a little ambiguous, hypothetically then.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Thole's been alright early on, it's not egregious. I know, but I'd still rather go with the better matchup, Thole's not going to keep up his current hitting and starting him against a tough lefty isn't going to delay that.
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Agreed. Guy hasn't won a game all season. Should be an easy win for us Josh Outman has three wins as a reliever. Why dont we trade for him and make him a starter??
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 This game might be rained out. I thought so too! However, check this out. http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/graph/USPA1290 Looks good?

wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I wonder what the major league record is for different players used at 2B? Tolleson, Izturis, Lawrie, Goins, Getz, Diaz and we've only played a month!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Zaun sez trade Morrow and Santos in a package
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 That might possibly be the worst throw ever. Holy hyperbole!
wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Lol! The Pirate's approach to hitting? Wait for Santa!
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 There we go! Let's get the bats going now!

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Colby blows....why is he hitting vs a lefty
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Colby blows....why is he hitting vs a lefty Because the backup is also a lefty who can't hit?
