KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Well yeah of course. But I don't think Rasmus' injury is all that serious. No I don't either but a few games in the DH spot might be a good way to make extra sure of that.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Why is Moises Sierra still on this team?!?!?! Yeah sierra is a donkey, he actually cost the jays quite a bit yesterday with the tipped ball off the wall and he should of cost the jays another out when he took out the 2nd baseman and wasn't even near the 2nd base bag nor tried to reach for the bag. He's just a dumb useless player

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Hamstrings are always serious even when there not coco crisp had a hammy issue and missed two games and then pinch hit last night...not all hamstring issues will put you on a dl. Bad hamstring issues can keep you out 6 to 8 weeks. We just tend to think the worst.

flafson Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I thought it was funny last night the half the people here said it was a bad idea to put Bautista CF and Sierra RF and they pretty much cost us 2 runs/more pitches to Morrow. Was actually laughing pretty hard when i saw those botched plays, not because i wanted anyone to fail but because everyone here said it and it happened. Was also funny how Sierra tried to beat the throw to first base and jumped and missed the bag and fell down. Thank god nothing happened to him though.

Its pretty sad that alot of us are smarter than the management and front office of this team.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I hope today gets rained/snowed out. Dickey throwing in the snow/rain scares me. Rasmus could use another day off - not ideal to have him play on a cold slippery field tonight. Anyone think we give a spot start to Happ/Redmond today? or have McGowan go? I know it's unlikely but i can't see Dickey being that great and would rather move him back.

Don't think I agree that the OF cost the team 2 runs. Colabello's blast was with 2 outs so the runner was going and would've scored anyway. They MAY have had a chance at home if Sierra hadn't mishandled the ball off teh wall, but it wasn't an easy bounce and I as said, they may or may not have gotten the runner. Bautista's bad route to the ball turned that into extra bases, but remember, even if Bautista had played that correctly and kept it to a single, Morrow walked the next batter and gave up a single to Mauer so Florimon probably would've scored from 2nd regardless.
flafson Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Pitchers aren't robots though, they don't always react well to things on the field which leads to command issues. That triple could have been a single and the bounce off the wall could have been a long single.

There's no way that would've been a single, that was off the wall in right-centre field, not straight away RF. Anyway, no doubt that's a bad OF, but I don't think you can say it cost the team 2 runs.

Of course, but it led to those runs and the impact was bigger than it should have been. Edited April 16, 2014 by flafson

flafson Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 It made the situation worse than it should have been. That's cause and effect. You could argue that it wouldn't have mattered but nobody really knows. It clearly had some impact and didn't make the situation any better.
flafson Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 To be honest, i thought it was a bad idea to play Bautista in CF just because he has very little experience there. Melky was a CF for quite some time in his career to it made more sense. Maybe they didn't want Sierra in LF, who knows.

I already said I agree on the Bautista play, but not on the Sierra play. That was a long flyball off the right-centre field wall with 2 outs, the runner would've likely scored from first. The Bautista play changed the situation, but Morrow was wild the whole game. I agree that a runner on 1st is much different than a runner on 3rd. Anyway...

I agree with you, Melky would've likely played that ball much better than Bautista did. If Rasmus is out for longer, they should really call up Gose.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Gose is not playing with the Bluejays because he is not making solid contact. Well neither is Sierra I'm not a fan of Gose, but we need him up here now so Bautista doesnt hurt himself playing CF. Sierra is not helping, get Gose up for defence
CHRIS Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Did Lind stop doing his 15 minutes of stretching every day? The Injury Gods are toying with us so far; a lot of not-too-serious injuries so far.
flafson Verified Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Any real status update on Lind? I liked having him between Bautista and EE.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Juan Francisco time in T.O.! Yep. So be it. But we have to get rid of Sierra whike we're shuffling.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Diaz down Reyes up Sierra down Gose up Lind DL Francisco up Why not?
