I guess that what happens when you hit too much and forced to run much around the bases.

Is that why JPA was so durable?

Good thing we have Izturis.

I'm not going to panic till they put him on the DL .

As I have been posting this team cannot afford any position player DL time .

Has anyone ever had a hamstring injury that didn't linger for a few weeks?

Hamstring injuries don't just go away.

Most of his value comes from his speed.... This is not good.

Jacoby Ellsbury has been dealing with a calf problem and hasn't appeared in a game in 10 days. I would guess Reyes starts the season on the DL...hopefully, it's the 15-day DL.

Ah, you must be a new fan.

What?

How many people last year missed 10x the amount of time then originally thought?

JJ, Morrow, Reyes, Lawrie, ect ect.

That should settle the 8 man BP question . No way they can go into the season with only 1 infielder as backup and 1 hurting .

Sure they can :)

We rush players back all the time. Reyes admitted he wasn't 100% when he came back last year, and Lawrie came back way too early as well. Bautista was rushed back in 2012 and re-injured his wrist after a couple of games.

There are plenty of examples of our FO bringing players back when they aren't ready.

On top of lying about the severity of injuries... Not a good mix for a team trying to gain trust from a fanbase dying for playoff baseball. This is why the next rebuild needs to be a complete house cleaning.

The s***** thing is I think AA would actually be good at STARTING a complete rebuild. But he won't get the chance if one becomes necessary.

IMO any GM can start a rebuild. Selling stars and collecting young assets while disregarding the team's record is the easy part.

I suppose

It's having the realization that it is necessary and the courage to do it the right away (Astros, and to a lesser extent the Cubs come to mind).

Amaro Jr won't be around for the (clearly necessary) Phillies rebuild either

For fun: How many top 100 prospects do you think you could collect over the next 12 months if you were willing to trade away Reyes and Buerhle (contracts hurt), Encarnacion and Bautista (contracts help) and Dickey, Morrow, Janssen, Santos, Lind and Rasmus???

If this team somehow contends it will buy AA and Beeston 5 more years once Rogers see the short term financial gain.

If we make the Wild Card game there is no way Alex is going anywhere. The city will be in a buzz and fair weather fans will be praising him and it would be bad publicity to can him.

Bautista and EE would bring in a killing considering contracts. Reyes would bring in something decent but Buehrle at this point would just be a salary dump.

Interesting question.

Encarnacion - a blue chip top-25 guy + at least one other top-100

Bautista - a blue chip top-25 guy + at least one other top-100

Rasmus - a top 50-100 guy

Reyes - a top 50-100 guy

Dickey - a top 50-100 guy

Lind - none

Santos - none

Janssen - none

Buehrle - none

When doing at "total rebuild" I suppose it makes the most sense to target guys who are a bit further from the majors. Seems like you might get more total quality prospects that way.

Tampa isn't rebuilding, but they are unloading Shields, so they ask for Wil Myers. They want someone MLB ready because they want to stay competitive now.

If you know full well you're punting a couple of seasons and didn't care about your record during that time, you would think you collect more by asking for younger further-off guys?

My god. The moment it went bad I think is the moment they did not trade Bautista at high value -- either after 2010, or even after 2011 (with the contract signed).

Erase - all trades that involved a older player coming and younger players going.

Replace with - trades that involve older players leaving for youth.

So you get nice things for Bautista and maybe EE. The teams are worse so every draft pick is a little higher.

This is the first year that a solid attempt at a winning team is made. Then next year start spending.

On more of a positive not the Sportsnet twitter machine is telling me that Reyes is feeling way better today after his MRI. Take it for what it is worth. I don't know how to quote twitter posts on here so.

Reyes not on lineup but says he's feeling well enough to "go outside and do everything today."

Jose Reyes feels even better today and will participate in batting practice. Still not ready to play, though. #Bluejays #Jays

Depending on what the turn is like in Montreal (I assume they updated it) I don't know if I would have him playing their even if he is good enough to go. Just have in in AAA games. But great news that this is not very serious. Sounds like he should be ready for Monday.
