Ervin Santana and Ubaldo Jimenez never had as horrific a drop off as Romero. He couldn't pitch a clean inning last season if his life depended on it.

no but Kasmir did. In 2009 Kasmir posted s 4.89 ERA in 147 innings in the mlb. In 2010 he poste a 5.94 ERA in 150 innings. In 2011 he only pitched 1.2 innings but gave up 5 runs. He also posted a 17.02 ERA in 15.1 minor league innings in 2011. In 2012 he posted a 5.34 ERA in 64 innings in the minors. In 2013 he posted a 4.04 ERA in 158 innings and received a 22 million dollar contract.

There are lots of examples of pitchers going through things like this and then making a comeback. Cliff Lee is one example who lost it after numerous Romero type seasons, was sent down and still sucked, but then the next year became one of the best in the league. Halladay is an example of a guy like Drabek who lost it, started walking as many as he struck out and needed to go back down to the minors.

I am not saying these players will do these things. But they happen!! If you close yourself off to the possibility of these things happening, then you are really giving yourself a chance to miss out. If our rotation was full then I get it, but we're talking about guys like Redmond and Rogers potentially blocking guys like Romero or McGowan if they are looking good? AA pinpointed the exact inning in a game that Romero's STUFF (not results) just look a large step up. The next game Romero came out and had a decent outing. Why the hell wouldn't we be open to seeing what he could do. He lost it in a hurry, there is no reason he can't find it again just as fast.

Yes, in 4-5 years they will trade Turner. What do the Jays do in the meantime?

There's speculation that they will trade him this year. A few weeks prior to ST, his being moved before opening day was not considered out of the question. It still may not be. They have depth in pitching prospects. This is the Marlins and they have to be very aware that his trade value is best prior to next season, his last at 1 million, his last before being arbitration eligible.

yes there is speculation they will trade young pitching but they want young controlable offensive players close to the majors which is something the jays don't have . i just don't see us matching up

I was at the game vs Prince George about a month or two ago (Calvert bobblehead night)

It was fun to watch Edmonds and Harkins.

Wish I could get out to more games, although I dont live there but being a Jets season ticket holder eases the pain a bit lol

I bet it does I have only made it in to a couple jets games but being able to go to a lot of Wheaties games does not ease the pain much.

So this idea is over yes? 5BB 1HBP 0K in 2.2 IP

Is this an injury?? What the hell. I've always been a believer that he could come back.

A pitcher is just a very complicated machine. If the body breaks it may not be fixable but you can at least identify what happened. If the computer breaks (the mind) again may not be fixable but atleast you should be able to identify what happened.

Did I miss something?? What the hell happened?? Did something physical just go?? If it's mental are they atleast epxerimenting with every psycho somatic drug known to man.

I get that "Steve Blass Disease" is a thing, kind of. But you think it would better defined by now.

You can't base anything off of spring stats guys, you've all said it yourselves. Ricky's poor performance this March means nothing going forward. What matters is that Pete Walker has fixed his mechanics and thus Ricky will be a dependable #4 starter for the Blue Jays this year.

It's going to be interesting to see how AA responds. 3 innings ago he was running his mouth about how good Rick looked. Will he actually do a 180 after one spring start? Nolin-gate suggests that he will I guess.

AA running his mouth. You really do hate the guy. Ricky did some positive things, is a GM suppose to slam his players in spring training? He was terrible today...move on. We're stuck with Happ, Remond an Rogers. We need better, but it's what we have for now.
