NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I wish there wasn't so much truth to this "We're going to have a track team!"
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 "We're going to have a track team!" That's exactly the quote I was thinking of too. LOL Beeston.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Track team is gone One left to KC then DFA, the other will be lucky to hit .250 in buffalo Reyes is about all we've got left for usable speed
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Exactly. AA should know that we will have to offer more to get FAs to come here. He seems to think he can lowball and players will go along with it. My point stands that AA has not signed ANY significant free agents in his 4 years here. There were many options to improve the rotation this offseason and last. AA is a f***ing joke. Last offseason he got Johnson, Dickey and Buehrle (our best two remaining pitchers), moron. He's not going to offer players more than they are worth just because the guy is too much of a pansy or a prima donna. He can only offer as much as his owners allow him to offer, and if his owners think it's ******** that they have to pay more than anyone else, then that's a perfectly understandable stance. He offered exactly what the guy got, and if that Medlen tard hadn't injured himself again, Santana would likely be a Blue Jay. Alex is at fault for several things but missing Santana is not one of them. Nobody is angry that he missed out on Santana. They're angry that he's done nothing all offseason, and Santana represented the last feasible target for upgrading the team. You're wrong here. People are legitimately angry that he missed out on Santana. It's not just because he was the last feasible target, people have wanted him all along.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I wonder how long it takes for Joey Bats to start wanting out of Toronto.

Flashman Verified Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 f*** that. Alex & Beeston's job at this point is not to build a contending team, its to sell tickets. And young, unknown players to a casual fan base just doesn't do it. This is not down to the casual fans. There is no excusing it: AA has had five years to build a contender, with a Halladay trade to kick off any rebuild and a substantial payroll to support him. He owns this.

Casual fans are annoyed because last year's team, which was so evidently sub-par, has not been significantly upgraded. It really is that simple.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 AA could lose his job this season Could? If he doesn't, I don't even want to imagine how bad things will get next year.

It really is that simple. Where you live in the UK? I grew up in North Yorkshire, Scarborough to be exact. How the F you a Jays fan, I'm guessing you immigrated there from Canadia?
JJippidy Verified Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I'm not really disappointed in these events at all. Isolated it's irrelevant, in the context of actuality it represents ongoing failure.
Jim_Ackers_balls Verified Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I'm not surprised by the mess that is the Blue Jays. This organization is run the same way as the Toronto Maple Leafs: Hire the assistant GM, who was hired by the jettisoned GM because they are familiar with the organization. One would think that when you fire a GM, you'd purge most of the rest of the staff that he hired unless they demonstrated some sort of track record of success. This club can't produce quality major leaguers; can't draft them and as a result no FA of any value wants to sign with them. When the Jays were winning 20 years ago, FA's would take a discount to come to Toronto. I really hope the following happens at the end of this year: A) Rogers sells the team President and GM are fired along with the managerial and scouting staff C) New GM comes in and blows up this team
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Johan will be a great addition to this team. He's cheap as well. FFS. Somebody wake up a mod.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 AA could lose his job this season is that why he sounds like he's gonna cry in every interview?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 The way I read this whole Santana affair is that his agent did a number on the Jays and O's. He used them to stir up interest in his client and even got a 3-year offer from the Twins in the process. I think they used the media, including Rosenthal, to spark interest by spreading the rumour that he was now not only willing to sign a 1-year deal, but also sign quickly. After seeing the immediate reaction and offers by the Blue Jays, Orioles, Twins and Rockies, they figured, "now that we have offers on our hands, why not wait a few days and see what happens? These teams won't be withdrawing their offers any time soon". It is what it is, this is an "in-between" franchise. They made last year's moves, IMO, to avoid going into 2013 with a team expected to lose 90 to 100 games. AA certainly went full retard with the Dickey trade though, that's a trade that's gonna haunt him and this franchise in particular, for a loooong time. Hate to rehash it, but it is what it is.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Espinosa would be a terrific fit. He doesn't have a spot in Washington's lineup and has proven to be a player who could put up 2.5-3 WAR seasons. Plus he shouldn't cost that much in terms of talent. I'm still shocked he hasn't been a target. Washington's thinking may be they will have to use him at 2nd if LaRoche doesn't work and they move Zim to 1st base . Until then he becomes their super sub after trading lombardozzi

JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 So who do Y O U want to replace him with? Since you are calling for his head you must have someone in mind that will do a much better job them him.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 You just pick one of the top assistants from the Rays, A's, Cards or Indians. Doesn't need to be a big name.

They have given us more than enough payroll to work with. Its AA's fault that the team isn't good enough. I'll agree with B and C though
flafson Verified Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 A) Rogers sells the team Do you really think there is someone in Canada with more money who will be willing to take on the Blue Jays? Should be happy with what we got, in the CFL, a guy with 2 million can own a team, so Rogers with 6 billion, you should take it and run with it.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 David Forst or that guy who I forget from the A's FO or literally anyone from the Cardinals/Rays/A's/Pirates. I'm convinced the Rays' domincan league intern/janitor/lunch ladies have a better understanding of DIPS than AA.
