bowld Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Happ performing like s*** in the spring is the best thing that can happen for the team. Guess its better to do it now rather than wait until next month to blow up when it counts
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 You don't need your 4/5 guys to be killer. But you don't want guys who give away every other game.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Guess its better to do it now rather than wait until next month to blow up when it counts It sort of is. f*** maybe we should just sign Santana. He's likely to better than Happ isn't he??
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 My phone always wants to autocorrect when I type "Happ". I have the ability to add it to my dictionary so that it will stop, but I refuse to do so. LOL
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Get use to what your watching. It's going to be a regular occurrence coming out of the 1st down 4-0. Book it!!!
Sorrow Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 If we could get Drew and Santana on 1-2 year deals do so. We need the starting depth this year and we need anything better at 2B.
S33n Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I wish they would have left Happ in to get lit up real bad
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 You don't need your 4/5 guys to be killer. But you don't want guys who give away every other game. Bingo.
flafson Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 It sort of is. f*** maybe we should just sign Santana. He's likely to better than Happ isn't he?? Thing is, it's one thing to fill the hole from within but it's another to fill 2 holes from within and expect good results. Add to that the 70% chance that Morrow will go down and we are screwed badly.
sdyment Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Really like what I've seen from Navarro's approach at the plate so far...
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 It sort of is. f*** maybe we should just sign Santana. He's likely to better than Happ isn't he?? Man i hope Redmond continues to get shelled also. With no options left, AA may feel inclined to give Redmond a spot. Talent wise, Stroman and Hutch should fill the 4 and 5 spots.
Rotator Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Happ performing like s*** in the spring is the best thing that can happen for the team. i agree with this sentiment. hope he keeps sucking so that they can't bring him north with the team.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Wonder what the Jays will do with Happ after this "Happ"less start.. they can't hand him a rotation spot when he's getting shelled like this.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 The problem is what happens when A) people get hurt, Stroman and Hutch reach inning caps, and/or C) Stroman and/or Hutch are ineffective. If Redmond is DFA'd, the dept looks like Rogers and Happ (possible 1-win talent), likely replacement-level trash with a bit of upside (McGowan and Nolin) and certain replacement-level trash (Drabek, Jenkins, McGuire, Rasmusen, Romero etc...). The goal should be to give as few starts as possible to guys like Nolin and McGowan, and not use that last group at all. Stroman and Hutch in the rotation to start the year seriously strains the team's depth. Yep. Santana is worth signing. mitigates against disaster. Just do it.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Well, Korecky gets us out of a jam there.. but what a mess Happ left! Something has to be mentally or physically wrong with Happ, considering his control was all over the place.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Might as well.. Santana still isn't signed yet, as most teams are out of money and can't afford to make anymore big signings. Ditto for Stephen Drew.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 McGowan in next inning? Looks like it. He was warming.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Wonder what the Jays will do with Happ after this "Happ"less start.. they can't hand him a rotation spot when he's getting shelled like this. first two outings mean jack all. If he's still doing this in 2 or 3 weeks, they'll start caring.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Anyone else captivated by the epic battle between Gose and Pillar for the 4th OF spot? The contrast in the hit tool is quite evident. Pillar can make contact with anything, and as a result swings at stuff he shouldn't be, fouling off balls that are outside the strike zone. Gose is the opposite, knows he can't contact as well so tries to be patient, but is inconsistent with it and ends up making weak contact in play on pitches that he just took for a ball twice
Sorrow Verified Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 My biggest issue with Gose is looking back on that year in AA, 20+ hrs, good OBP, supposedly had phenomenal defence in CF and then he comes to AAA/MLB, can't steal, can't field, can't hit, can't throw, shows no pop, doesn't walk. It's like watching Snider all over again, but not to the extent of mismanagement.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Now McGowan is going full McGowan. Goddammit. does that mean he's standing on the mound and his arm is lying on the ground half way to home plate...cause that's what I figure full McGowan to be.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 McGowan not looking good. Cant hit the strike zone
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
