I've been looking at some web traffic ranking stats for an unrelated project and decided to see how this site fits in just for the hell of it.

http://bluejaysmessageboard.com.websitetrafficspy.com/

Not bad. Apparently this site could be sold for $4K if the admin wanted to. 5,842 rank in Canada according to Alexa (means only 5,841 sites get more traffic in this country). But it's real popular in Grand Bend for some reason. 30% of all this site's traffic comes from there and it's ranked 13th overall. To put it in perspective only huge sites like Twitter, Facebook, Google etc are getting more traffic from Grand Bend internet users than this site. I guess those beach bums really like talking about baseball in the wintertime. Or I found the home town of that puppy nut.

Would be fun to see how this site compares to the MLB Jays board, except I don't think they can rank it by subsection like that. Only MLB.com works.

This site could be so much bigger than it is. Has anyone been pimping this on twitter like originally planned?

Something as simple as handing out leaflets at the home opener would increase traffic significantly and would be cheap to pull off.

This is actually a really good idea if we want to increase our user base. The mods will have alot more work to do though.

I think when the season is starting, a lot of people who don't follow during the winter will go looking for boards and choose this one

Looks like someone had a similar idea. The forum looks brand new but dead. I saw it advertised on twitter though.

I think this site has a twitter page. But nobody has posted on it in a long time.

I believe that that's our old friend JaysCountry, is it not? The passive aggressive, Ju1ced-hating, grudge-holding boycotter of this forum?

He's actually a nice guy. He sent me a DVD of the '93 WS out of the blue one year. It was awesome. I think he put a lot of work into his site and it never really took off so he was frustrated... which is understandable.

I didn't mind him. Seemed nice enough. But he was pretty aggressive (I think he said something about having legitimate self control issues) and him and Ju1ced sparred. His forum is decent but he held it against us for not using his. Eh.

Interesting idea but i wouldn't do it for the home opener. So many idiots who just go to get wasted and fight.

Real fans go to the 2nd home game. I would give them out Saturday.

I'm a tweetaholic, I don't mind pimping the forum on its account if the admin needs help with that

I signed up for his site like 2 years ago and got tired of talking to myself. Too bad, he has a good story, and put so much time into his site. The site is great looking too.

It's actually a really smart idea, if someone wanted to take this forum somewhere from a $$$$ perspective. If it's meant to be just for fun, not really sure if bringing in a bunch of CHP clones is really what people here want.

In 2007 when Twitter was nothing they pushed their Tweeting service big time at some music festival and now it's a $20 billion company.

The user engagement here is very high. The Alexa stats show a 4.5% bounce rate and 7 page views and nearly 7 minutes per user per day. That's really good. Contrast that to the MLB site where people spend half the time and the bounce rate is 36% and they have a lot more content and functionality than just message boards.

I'm sure he's an alright guy, but he obviously has some issues. More than once he fliipped out for little reason.

I did feel bad because he put a lot of work into it, but he instigated it with me (us), so I quickly lost that feeling lol.

About the site in the original post, those types of sites are garbage. Barely anyone uses Alexa, so it's hard to really gauge.

This site can be a lot better. It will slowly grow, once season starts numbers will blow up.

But I can promise you, quite a few members shy away from posting or sticking around, because they see some of the posts and how people react to posts.

This site gets 20,000 page views a day.

How many unique visitors a day?

Think so. I kinda felt bad for him, because he had a perfectly viable alternative to the cesspool and juiced still made this site and we all moved here instead. I lol'd.

But I can't help but laugh when I see a thread like this: http://bluejaysfans.ca/forums/showthread.php?21-****Who-s-Who-Introduce-yourself-HERE!****
