    So Bruce/Pompey platoon in left? Would Bruce be comfortable in left since he's never played it? As long as no prospects of significant upside are going the Reds way, I'm fine with the deal. Bruce for essentially a 1 year 10 million deal when you minus out Saunders contract and option is a worthy risk.

    Trading a SP for a RP would be disastrous. Especially the type a 41 year old knuckerballer would give. Dickey is much more valuable in the Jays rotation than anything he gets in trade.

    After this signing, I have to think they see Chavez as a spot starter / 6th starter / long relief type. Kind of like 2014 Estrada. This might be a telling of the Price sweepstakes with Happ being a lefty. Who knows.

    I could see the following in Buffalo Pete Orr (AAA) Tyler Pastornicky (AAA) Take a flier on Hak-Ju Lee (AAA), Tyson Gillies (AA). The pitching available is basically a lottery for all 30 teams. Just grab 2 or 3 and hope for the best. Carlos Marmol and Jesse Crain are probably the best bets.

    Good choice. It would be a great stroy to see Stroman clinch it with a complete game. If not, Cecil is a good choice. Loup would also be great to see, because I doubt we see him in the playoffs. And again, old man Hawkins would be good too.

    If you want to guarantee yourself playoff tickets, buy season tickets. We're all bandwagoners compared to season ticket holders.

    ehhh, maybe. The Archer / Cueto match up is probably a coin toss. But I think the Royals offense scores more runs on Tampa the rest of the way.

    Yeah way more worried to face the Orioles than the Rays. EDIT: No way Orioles beat the Royals, by the way.

    II agree with you, but more-so regarding the Angels. Have to think the Angels would be more of a challenge. Trout could steal a game himself, and in a best of 5 that's trouble. Still think the Royals keep the best record, but could be close.

    Wildcard winner (Yankees or Angels) plays the team with best record (Royals). So right now we match up with the Astros. Not to get ahead of it, but I think the Jays would roll right through the Astros. A Jays / Royals ALCS would be incredible.

    I'm more surprised the Dodgers didn't claim him than the Yankees. But I agree the Yankees are a close second. The Mets would have been real interesting as well.

    Goins is starting. Jays needed a back-up. Colabello is the PH at the moment.

    Defence, and a need for a back-up middle infielder. Valencia's offence was overkill.

    A claim for Shields is a no-brainer. It's worth 65 million to start him against the Royals in the ALCS alone.

    A solid veteran back-up middle infielder pick-up. I like the deal. I remember the Jays were interested in him coming up in the A's org.

    I could be wrong as its been a while, but wasn't there strong rumours back in 2001 that Dombrowski wold be the GM of the Blue Jays (before Ricciardi) ?

    Proposal: Anyone who posts a "FIRE _____" message should be immediately banned. Not pointing any fingers at any individuals, but in general, those posters just appear to be dirty whiners. If the Jays lose a game, turn the tv off and forgetaboutit!

    Have watched him play. Gotta love those illegal 5am streams of Japanese baseball. I think he'll be solid. 3yr/10 sounds like a reasonable price. Even if his stats translate 80%.
