jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 He's probably a small upgrade over Goins. (not that i want either as our 2nd basemen)
derp. Verified Member Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 As long as it's not OUR bench, I'm good with it oops yea... pressed T instead of R but got your message anyways haha

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Yes but I remember Jeter diving into the crowd and making a nice grab, Alomar catching a flare deep behind first base, and Delmon Young throwing someone out trying to stretch a single to a double; therefore they are all spectacular fielders. /thread Ugh, most overrated play of all time, the fact that this is put amongst baseball's greatest plays is sickening. At least in the Oakland play where he had no business being where he was he got a lucky out out (damnit) of it.

I think that play was hyped up more in part due to another player (Garciaparra I think?) not willing to do that. I don't remember whether it was the same game / series or not but they pulled up rather than try to make an easier play, and Jeter went head first into the crowd and successfully made a much harder one. If I remember right it was a dogfight in the standing between the Sox and the Yankees, and the games were extremely important. I think that adds to the rating of the play in people's minds (whether right or wrong).

His positioning was straight out of the Yankees playbook and apparently it had been in there for ages. It just happened to pay off at an incredible moment.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo Source: Emilio Bonifacio cleared release waivers, and is now a free agent.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 He would actually be a good pickup for a speed-starved NL on a 1 year 2M dollar deal
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 #bringbackboni! Worst hash tag ever! LOL http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/79/The_Simpsons-Jeff_Albertson.png
The Nemesis Verified Member Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Huh, once upon a time the Diamondbacks traded Bonifacio to the Nationals for Jon Rauch. That's like one nice little encapsulation of Blue Jays suckage right there.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Bonifacio has signed with Cubs
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Considering the below average production the Cubs have at 3B and 2B, he'll be playing a lot there until the Cubs top infield prospects are ready.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Bonifacio has signed with Cubs Minor league deal with invite to spring training. Would be a great guy coming off the bench as a pinch runner, multiple defensive uses. Used correctly, would probably be a positive asset.

Injuries to Lawrie and Reyes just meant too much time at 2B for him with us. He's dangerous there.
