unfortunately I'm a dumbass who doesn't know how to use Access

Access is a little outdated but there's plenty of ways. You can check out Boston College's SABR101 course. Pretty s***** but the SQL tutorial was really good.

If only the Angels had at least a couple of decent pitching prospects I really would go after them hard to trade Dickey. He would survive in that Ballpark and would pitch well for them with their defense. I'm sure Dickey has passed thru waivers and is the type of guy they need. I think they would anti up the money but it would be all about the players coming back.

I wouldn't trade Dickey. It's unlikely we would get any significant prospects back and considering he is on a team friendly contract and eats innings, he has more value to this team than trading him away. If AA is looking to trade anyone from the rotation it should be Buehrle, but unless he can get someone to take at least $12-14M of his salary, there is probably no point in dealing him either.

I would be dealing either and actually think we could get more for Dickey who fits their ball park . Still if the angels come calling and are willing to move some ( look what they gave up for street ) prospects of value then I'm dealing one of them.

I might add that Richards injury sure screws me. I have him in 3 leagues.

I'd deal him out of sheer sympathy for the Angels.

Fact is we need both for 2015 otherwise AA is going to end up having to sign a similar calibre pitcher to a longer term deal 3-4 years. What's the point of that when Buehrle is a FA at the end of next season and Dickey has a team friendly option? Would you rather commit to a contract like Ubaldo got or just go with one year of Buehrle at a higher AAV? With our younger arms coming up they both fill needs to bridge the gap and we're not committed long term to either of them. Teams will not be lining up to give away top prospects for either of these guys, so they hold move value on this team than trading them away.

Agreed completely. I'm not sure what everyone thinks AA is going to do with Buehrle's $19 million if he trades him.

It just doesn't make much sense at all to move either if we are being realistic about the return. If AA plays it smart this winter hopefully he will acquire a couple more players on short term deals even if it requires paying a higher AAV. Come the end of the 2015 season this team is going to have much more payroll flexibility and by the end of 2016 almost every big contract will be off the books except Reyes.

AA has an opportunity to keep this team competitive next season and still build towards the future with a younger and cheaper core, let's just hope he has figured things out. His reluctance to deal away any youth the past year is a good sign.

Finally, someone who isn't saying "Blow it up!" I mean, with a young core of pitchers coming and emerging, there's a good chance for this team to be competitive in 2015. Still, resigning Cabrera should be #1 priority.

Beckham to LAA

inb4 Stroman for Kendrick

Basically a rental for LA to give them 2B/3B depth. Basically an upgrade over Grant Green/Ian Stewart/Luis Jimenez in the system. Beckham's going to be a free agent this offseason, as he is guaranteed to be non-tendered.

You're legit annoying now.

You need to give me this one. Have you even seen the BBDL score this week?

Sal Perez's MRI on knee came back negative.

Detroit fans and Erik Kratz(because he would've seen more playing time if Perez had to go on the DL) groan.. looks like the Royals are in good shape. They could pretty much put a stranglehold on the AL Central this weekend with a easy series vs. the Rangers.

Angels sweep the Red Sox at Fenway in 4 games for the first time since the early 1960s, and the Red Sox were offensively challenged. Anyone thinking Cespedes and Craig are going to save this team doesn't realize that Boston's offensive problems are wide-ranging.

-Pedroia's facing his worst season of his career, with significant drops in power, OPS and batting average. There's the main blame right there.. it's surprising nobody actually mentions this.

-Ortiz is having a great season.. but he'd be over 100 RBIs by now if he had more depth in the lineup and Pedroia actually producing. But the real question is how much longer he can keep doing this (he'll be 39 in November).

-Bogaerts, Middlebrooks and Bradley not developing as planned, with Bradley back in AAA and Bogaerts one foot in the door back to Pawtucket. And Middlebrooks has been injured frequently.

-Holt has regressed post All-Star break.. I still feel he's a flash in the pan. Mookie Betts is the Red Sox's future leadoff hitter, not this guy. Holt is better suited as a bench player and super-utility guy.

Pitching is not an issue in Boston.. it's that offense! And Pedroia is the main blame.

I love how you go from using stats like xFIP and SIERA in one post to RBI in the other.

Also, despite Pedroia's league average offense this year, he's still projected to be worth almost 5 wins above replacement, so not exactly a team-crippling performance.
