jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Well, the O's need this win, as the Yankees lead the Royals 6-1 as we speak, as the Yanks lit up James Shields.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Angels doing a terrible job tonight vs. the Fish.. Wade LeBlanc was garbage. Back to 1st place the A's will go (leading 8-2 now.. oh, and Stanton hit a deep HR at Angel Stadium.) Mariners need to take advantage.. but are trailing 1-0 to Texas at the moment (good thing they upheld the Tomas Telis groundout.)
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Jorge Soler coming up tomorrow. Stats in the minors in 2014(3 levels): .338, 23 2B, 14HR, 54RBIs, 33/47 BB/K ratio, 1.118 OPS Next up, Kris Bryant.. this Cubs team is going to be legit in 2015 if they get some pitching.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Not that it really matters but the Rays protest was declined. Jays officially get the win. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/jays-win-preserved-as-mlb-denies-rays-protest/
Vincent Verified Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Stupid Maddon. If their team was in play-off contention then it's not stupid to try as it has no consequence. You can argue whether they're actually still in contention but we all know what happened in 2012. Edit: 2011?

Not worth it to argue specifics.

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I don't know much about him but the Mariners are looking rather good this year. They're winning in spite of him. There are only 4 players on the team that are league-average or better, and one was inherited while another signed a $240 million contract.

It's amazing what you can do with great pitching, a huge park and a pretty borderline s***** offense. Defense hasn't even been good but... There they are.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Tigers fans, like I was with the Jays last night, are probaly saying **** the Tigers, **** their pitching, and **** David Price: 2.0 IP, 12H!, 8ER, 1BB, 3Ks Performances like this are going to cost the Tigers a playoff spot. And they can't afford their bullpen to get taxed.. they have a day game tomorrow (it's on Sportsnet BTW).
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 We need a quick adjustment in the measurement of defense. Peralta #3 and Crawford #11? Cozart's had great D this year to compliment their strong pitching, but whether the Reds can continue to afford to carry a low AVG/low OBP defensive SS like him is questionable, especially with a near bottom ranked offense and a losing record, especially with several of their pitchers heading towards free agency in the next year, and unlikely to resign with the Reds. Some Reds fans are comparing Cozart to Paul Janish, and that's not a good thing. Some actually think Ramon Santiago should be playing regularly.. but that would hurt their D.
