Not sure if anyone noticed but Erik Bedard basically said that he'd like to end his career playing in Canada for Toronto. I wonder if he'd be willing to compete for a swing man gig, maybe stomach being in Buffalo for a little bit.... Outside chance to start some games if there are injuries.

Sounds like a mutually beneficial arrangement. He doesn't have much left in all likelihood but he wouldn't be expected to provide more than some emergency starts.

"It'd be nice to pitch in Toronto, maybe end my career there," said the soon-to-be-36-year-old pitcher, who's thrown for six teams in 10 major-league seasons. "Toronto's close. Family could fly in. And it'd be a chance to play for a Canadian team."

I'd be totally down with him on a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. That last part may have been a recording...

Lynn gets $22M for 3 yrs. #STLCards

1) The Cardinals are the best. Lynn could be worth that contract next year. Love this deal.

2) Heyman made a tweet in which he capitalized a name? Almost didn't believe it for a second.

f*** him, he didn't take the Jays offer when he left Baltimore, Milb contract or GTFO.

Aoki signs with the Giants, $4.7M over one year with an option for a 2nd year ($4M + $0.7M buyout).

That looks like a very reasonable deal.

Is Wilner from the moon?

When someone asks, "why weren't the Jays in on Aoki?" the answer isn't "they don't have the money". The answer is "I have no idea. I only work on the radio. I don't manage their books. They could very well have been trying to get him. You know how these deals tend to just happen, especially when AA is involved. Who knew about Donaldson before it happened except for the highest FO execs? Who knows if every team wasn't in on Aoki?"

Meh? Technically he isn't wrong. Aoki would have been depth on this team as we've already got a outfield of Saunders, Pompey, Bautista with backups in Dirks and Pillar. Aoki wouldn't be a regular....but then again, technically this team is already paying $5 for depth in C with Navarro and they could have been on Aoki before the Saunders deal.

Either way, its Mike Wilner. He's best left to the casual fan.

Wilner's such an idiot, there's a very real chance that CF or LF can become a problem for the Jays this year. And for less than 5 million, that would've been an excellent signing

It's not that he isn't necessarily wrong. It's that he might as well be guessing. The Jays could very well have been in on Aoki and just weren't able to land him. This is a man whose partial job description is "tweet to fans". He knows nothing. If AA sees Wilner in the hallway, he probably whips his phone to his ear pretending a call just came in so he can glide by without having to say hi.

I kind of would have liked Aoki on the team, though... Not really sure where he would have fit, but I think he's a valuable little piece for a team to have.

Could've been insurance if Pompey struggles.

Fair enough.

Me too! Think the Giants got a decent deal on him. Projected at 1.5 WAR for next season and I could see him getting 2 WAR again.

Ya that's a nice deal for SFG but after the Saunders trade, we weren't really in need of him. Pompey could falter with the bat, but his D is for real.

Fair point. I suppose the team can carry an in-progress Pompey as long as he tracks down flies balls like a hawk. I just get anxious at the idea of the admittedly excellent top half of the lineup compensating for black holes at the bottom. It's kind of been a running joke for the last few years now and it never doesn't suck.

Don't you think the radio show would be a little boring if he said "well I don't know for sure and I don't want to speculate or guess" to every question that came in.

For the most part - he's speculating, guessing or giving his opinion on EVERY f'ing call that comes in man. That's the job.

At the end of the day - that's just his opinion and in this case, he's likely bang on. Sure it would be fan-f***ing-tastic to have Aoki here as "insurance" encase Pompey sucks or Saunders gets hurt - but it's likely not the best use of the remaining budget when we already have Dirks and Pillar on the team.

People are always raggin' on Wilner........but if that's your reasoning, you need to give your head a shake.

No they sign Aoki if Saunders doesn't happen. That's about it. Dumping $5MM from their remaining couch money on him would just be stupid.
