MLB was suppose to increase the playoff races via the second wild card. That did not work in the NL this year, and has done nothing to drive in the crowds in the AL,

time to go to 8 teams per conference playoffs structure to mirror NHL/NBA

This would destroy my interest in baseball for anything but fantasy purposes.

As the Yanks are about to miss the playoffs again as Jeter has continued to decline, here's a story about some possible Jeter-esque situations happening in the future.. both the Red Sox and Rays make the list due to Pedroia and Longoria.

And boy are the Reds screwed for the next decade..

Does ANYONE want to win the wild card?

Royals lose 3-2 to the Tigers.

Oakland trailing 2-0 to the Phillies.

Still waiting for the SEA/HOU game.

2-0 Houston.

Oakland is done, they will not make it.

These teams that are out, playing all loosey goosey,as usually happens.

This adds to the already frustrating Jays season.

If we win 5 out of the last 7 we are 1-2 games back.

LOL.....why do you say that? Great game by the way.

It's just that he's normally a good defensive player yet he couldn't seem to make a half-decent throw to first today. There were like three routine plays where he just half-assed the throw and had to get saved by Hosmer.

HOU up 10-1 on Seattle. 5 HRs for Houston tonight (Carter, Presley, Dominguez, Corporan, Marisnick).

Cleveland could be back in the playoff race by the end of tonight, as they are leading 4-2 on Minnesota. A win and they're only 3.0/3.5 back, and in striking distance of potentially upsetting the balance of the wild card race, possibly knocking two of OAK/KC/SEA out of the mix if they beat KC this coming week.

Holy, is Seattle crashing and burning down the stretch! 2/3 lost vs. the Astros. And with Oakland still struggling, the Yankees and Indians could STILL sneak in (more likely the Indians.)

Oakland walked off on the Phillies.. they're in good shape for a berth now.. if they can beat the Angels and Rangers.

Hernandez will still win it in a landslide. Although it should be closer than people think.

I don't know, mainstream media, like all good people, hate Hispanics.

Seriously though, the old school thinking BBWAA would even have a tough time discounting Kluber at this point. He leads King in 3 of their traditionally quoted stats (K's, Wins and CG's) and even though Felix's road numbers are actually better there is the thought that he pitches out of pitchers park. If Kluber was in New York, LA or Detroit I think there would have been more of a push for him. I don't think it would be a landslide.

Holy f***ing s***, Kluber is going to break 260 Ks?

I knew Kluber was good, but for some reason I thought it was more in the Doc Halladay ground ball machine sense rather than striking out everyone.

The Jays should get Wren, although he will want to be paid in dollars, which is more than Rogers would offer.

Frank Wren isn't that great of a GM.. as shown by those awful Uggla and Upton signings, along with the Justin Upton trade. And the Braves are messed up for the next few years.. almost $80M for 8 players (and Uggla's contract) in 2015, with arb raises coming, and HUGE holes on the roster and farm system. At least the Jays have a somewhat decent system compared to the Braves..

Just to refresh your memory:

January 24, 2013: Traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks with Chris Johnson to the Atlanta Braves for Brandon Drury (minors), Nick Ahmed, Randall Delgado, Martin Prado and Zeke Spruill.

Drury is surging up the D-Backs system, after a good season in A-AA. Nick Ahmed's role is unclear with Gregorius and Owings in the system. Randall Delgado was garbage, Prado did some good stuff with the D-Backs.. and was traded to the Yankees. Zeke Spruill is uncertain.

BTW, Chris Johnson is awful... the Braves gave him that extension, and he has regressed offensively and defensively. And don't be surprised if the Braves look at trading both BJ and Justin Upton this offseason.. one's an albatross, the other is a free agent after 2015 and unlikely to resign in Atlanta.

Speaking of winning and losing trades i was at the Twins Indians game Saturday night only to see Yan Gomes just destroy the twins lol.

Yes, we all know the Jays didn't evaluate Gomes well.. of course, he wouldn't be a regular had Santana not been moved to DH/1B full time.

The Cardinals won the Rasmus trade because they won the world series

That trade is difficult to evaluate. Remember, it was sort of a three-way deal between the Jays, White Sox and Cardinals. And Edwin Jackson left quickly after that season. Rzep was later dealt to Cleveland in a dump deal.

Some GM is going to come in an win with a team largely assembled by Wren and be given far too much credit for it.

The new GM has a huge mess to clean up as well. BJ Upton is an albatross, they face questions regarding Beachy and Medlen post TJS, plus they have a roster to fill out..

Luis Polonia is a HOF because he won 3 WS rings and played in 5 WS.

btw Polonia's son stole the 3 rings from him and sold them.

The Braves need some offensive help. They have a bunch of streaky batters who get hold/cold very easily since their big bats strikeout a lot. Freeman, Johnson, Gattis, and both Upton's have high K%. They need to get rid of Chris Johnson at third base, and they need to get rid of BJ Upton. Also, they could improve at second base as well, since Tommy La Stella isn't that great of an option.

As for their pitching, they need Minor to bounce back, and getting Medlen and Beachy back healthy and at 100% next season would definitely help. They have a solid young pitching core under control with Teheran and Alex Wood, along with Medlen, Beachy, Minor. They made some swift FA pickups with Harang and Santana to fill out their rotation and they still have a very good bullpen with Kimbrel, Walden, and Carpenter in the late innings.

They still have a team that could contend next season, though they need to cut bait with Chris Johnson and BJ Upton and make improvements to their lineup.

Sadly, BJ Upton and Chris Johnson have untradeable deals. And yes, they do need better bats.. it wouldn't be surprising if they dangle J. Upton and/or Jason Heyward in the offseason for more consistent bats that can get on base and not K a ton.
