jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Mariners beat Oakland on a very questionable high third strike on punto, who then loses his mind and throws his helmet, and Melvin tears the ump a new one after. Very entertaining stuff. And you can imagine the A's will be tearing the Mariners a new one for the rest of the series now that they're past King Felix.
sh3156 Verified Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Hopefully Yankees win today. Don't want Baltimore to get too far ahead.

Except for the fact the Mariners are favoured today (both by simulation and betting markets) with Iwakuma on the bump.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 He jumps away from the base path, he should be called out. My thoughts as well, but then I remembered this rule only applies against the Blue Jays...

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Alvarez makes the all star team Great for him, but also a sign of how injuries are ravaging the All-Star rosters. Jordan Zimmermann was supposed to be in that spot, but he got injured last night. The injury list for the All-Star game is growing: Tanaka, V-Mart, Yadier Molina, among others..

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 50 players now for the Rangers have played for the team this year: Anthony Andro @aandro Rangers purchasing contract of LHP Ryan Feierabend. Corresponding move TBA I remember him from the Mariners.. just a sad story for the Rangers having to dig really deep into the minors for starters.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 What's with all the first place collapses lately? First the Giants, then the Jays, now the Brewers are about to hand 1st place to the Cardinals.. down 5-0 early on.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 The Aiken medical fiasco may be a ploy for Astros to lowball him to spend towards other picks http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/jul/12/brady-aiken-mlb-draft-houston-astros/
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 And a lot of fans/media confuse rebuilding with milking the system. f*** the Astros and everything they stand for. I really hope they don't find success with this current group. I suspect that they will though.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Yeah, I don't get a good vibe from the Astros, in terms of integrity of the front office. They seem to have confused being analytical with being shady. If I'm Aiken, I now ask for the slot money ($7.9M) or I go to college. Exactly. i would increase my asking price an additional 500k. If they don't sign him they lose all that slot money and won't be able to sign anyone. The comp pick they will recieve wont be worth as much next year. Aiken should use his leverage to beat the Astros at their own game.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Aren't they already slated to lose a pick next year if they don't get Aiken at a certain amount? If they are, then Aiken is in the driver's seat.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Billy Hamilton, everybody. http://giant.gfycat.com/WildTidyBeagle.gif Very athletic plat but Isn't he out of the baseline??
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Very athletic plat but Isn't he out of the baseline?? The enforcement of that rule is terrible. He's clearly well off the baseline when he makes that lateral side-leap. I wish they actually called more batters out for this.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Another loss for the Texas Rangers.. 3-21 since they were last at .500 in mid June, and now 20.5 back. Have you seen a collapse worse than this? Even this makes the Jays look good..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 The Rangers are like us now, except their pitching is like our offense (abysmal and injured). We're not comparable to the Rangers. Our pitching is still well ahead of Texas, who have Yu Darvish and little else. And our offense, even with injuries, is still better than Texas. When your rotation after Darvish is a broken down Colby Lewis, an untested Nick Tepesch and Nick Martinez(who's on the DL), Miles Mikolas, Scott Baker, a washed up Phil Irwin, and tomorrow, busted Mariners prospect Ryan Feierabend, this team makes last year's Jays team look good...
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Andrew McClutchen hit game-tying AND game-winning home runs to beat the Reds. Pretty amazing. I have to admit I think I have a serious man crush on that guy. Such a great player and super cool guy. #NotGay

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Dan Uggla, who probably should be DFA'd, is suspended for 1 game speculated to be to be for tardiness
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Exactly. It's night and day. Which is why the Jays are a high flying 11-22 since June 6th, and the Rangers are a decrepit 7-26 in that span. So thankful to be 4 games better than the worst team in baseball over the last 5 weeks (and on a 54 win pace over that period). Brings a calm to the soul. Giants fans feel the same way(9-21).
