Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Verlander 5.2IP, 6 runs, 4 walks, 6 K's
bzapple Verified Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 8 strong innings for Dallas Keuchel tonight. He appears to be quite good.

It's amazing how a single adjustment can make every projection worthless. Guy scrapped his curveball in favour of a slider in the offseason, and it's been downright filthy. Generates swinging strikes to both lefties and righties.

I found myself legitimately angry earlier. The awesome service that I've been enjoying for free for multiple hours every week for the last five years can't go down for a few hours.

His ability to consistently keep the ball down in the zone on all his pitches is really impressive. Always a pleasure to watch pitchers with great command. Meanwhile his opponent, Brandon McCarthy, dropped to 1-9 with a 5.29 ERA...and a 2.86 xFIP. How very Brandon McCarthy of him.
bzapple Verified Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Anyone know what the greatest single game performances by xFIP have been? Curious as Cueto had a -0.71 xFIP through 6IP tonight. I checked Brandon Morrows complete game 1 hitter (17K), 1.19 xFIP. Lets say minimum 6 IP. One that came to mind was Matt Cain's perfect game, looked it up and it was 1.13.

BTS Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Verlander poops all over me once again, and to think, I could've gotten someones newborn for him 12 months ago. I would have offered you a kidney and both testicles for him 3 months ago but you wouldn't even listen to offers.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Good question. Using Mike Wilner s***** projection math, these are the #'s both are on pace for Tanaka - 218 IP, 23-3 Abreu - 52 HR, 35/171 BB/K I never realized how much poor plate discipline Abreu has, considering his power to all fields. He seems to be a one-dimensional player. I'd have to go with Tanaka.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Yankees and Orioles both won Jays need to start winning some games, and sooner rather than later
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) Tanaka has 1/3 of the Yankees wins so far this season Imagine where they'd be had they signed Jimenez or Garza or almost anyone else instead. That offense is not good enough to win a lot of games unless the starter is really good that day. They have the 3rd worst offense in the AL and the defense is not good either. I fully expect they're currently loading up a truck full of cash to try and land Scherzer this off season. Edited June 12, 2014 by G-Snarls

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Gausman could win a rotation spot if he can f*** the Jays today. it will be fun to watch.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Gausman is really good. If he has a bad start though the O's will be discouraged and send him to the Minors for two weeks lol. Let's hope for that. A lot of pressure on the kid. btw Bundy > HH =/> Gausman HH - 19 years old A-ball: (10.34 K, 3.39 BB, 0.46 HR)/9 in ~59IP
flafson Verified Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Gausman > Harvey >= Bundy. Gausman has a 96 mph fastball, can throw four good pitches for strikes and is already at the Major League level. He's a stud, maybe the best pitcher the Orioles have. He has the stuff but like i've seen last year, major leaguers don't always buy his stuff and hit him hard. Hopefully that's still the case today.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 58 innings though! It's a mistake to judge him based off the 17% HR/FB he's experienced in the small sample of MLB appearances he's made. Make no mistake, he is a very good pitcher. Just a matter of if he can cut it as a starter or not I gather...
