GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Trevor Cahill DFA I'd rather him than Happ.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Trevor Cahill DFA AA scoop him up.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 AA scoop him up. But not off waivers
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Trevor Cahill isn't even bad. Every team should put in a claim. Yeah, he's pretty bad, if a supposedly groundball pitcher isn't getting groundballs, what good is he?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Yeah, he's pretty bad, if a supposedly groundball pitcher isn't getting groundballs, what good is he? That would make him as good as a fly ball pitcher.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 That would make him as good as a fly ball pitcher. A fly ball pitcher with mediocre walk and K rates...sign me up!
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 A fly ball pitcher with mediocre walk and K rates...sign me up! Me too.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Machado apologizes It was an actually apology, so good for him for not making it a "I'm sorry if they were upset at what they think I did" kind of things... But the "why are you issuing this apology" question has one real answer: I was told in no uncertain terms by the people who pay my salary that I had to.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Skaggs to DL. How are the Angels even in contention with such a thin pitching staff? They don't have a #4 or #5 starter right now, and Santiago is garbage.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 He does get ground balls! 56.2% last year, 47.9% this year -- less good but in a small sample. It adds up to a 4.11 xFIP last year and 3.92 this year, right in line with his career norms. I don't think he's that much different than he was at his peak. If Arizona stuck with him I bet he'd have regressed to the usual 6 K/9, 3.5 BB/9, 55% GB rate. Better than Happ. I honestly don't think he'd be that much better than Happ given the extra cost Cahill's gonna get. I would try to get a better guy like Kennedy, I would try for Cahill as a last resort.

Convo Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Machado apologizes That was actually a good apology, regardless, I no longer hate the kid... for now
admin Site Manager Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 That was actually a good apology, regardless, I no longer hate the kid... for now Was decent. What bothers me is that if FO didn't say anything he probably wouldn't have done a thing.
torontofan Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 So is he not getting a suspension for that?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 So Orioles win, Red Sox and Rays lose, Yanks ppd. Jays gain some more ground on the bottom of the division. The Red Sox are digging themselves into a big hole again after streaking to almost get out of it.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 So is he not getting a suspension for that? He'd better... A court ordered apology isn't usually a suitable punishment... Apology was decent, but it was obviously something he was told he had to do, and saying "I'm sorry" doesn't get you out of punishment... Or if it does, I have some judges to speak with...

Usually the league announces a suspension or hearing shortly after. Haven't heard anything about it yet.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Usually the league announces a suspension or hearing shortly after. Haven't heard anything about it yet. I certainly don't know what will happen, but the two absolutely without question intentional "hit the catcher with the backswing" issues and the "swing at a patch that is past the plate and 'accidentally' let go of the bat aiming at the pitcher and missing and tossing it towards 3rd" things in the same game? That's some seriously terrible s*** and he should not get away with a s***** YouTube "I'm sorry" act as his 'punishment'. Unless the league is declaring open season on Manny Machado, so every pitcher can throw at him without repercussions for the rest of his career or something... That would be an interesting decision.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Usually the league announces a suspension or hearing shortly after. Haven't heard anything about it yet. Do you think he would appeal after apologizing ( and thus admitting guilt?)
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 The Mariners are actually playing some really good ball lately. Would be nice to see some of the lower teams beat the Mariners and Angels to slow them down a bit (in case we're fighting for the WC).

Career .244/.284 hitter. Hitting .385 on the year. Too bad he wasn't top of hte order, could have got one more AB.

Yeah..thing is though..he's got 40 more at bats than Adam Lind and producing similar numbers. I still think Lind needs to play more against your average lefties like a Garcia or a Danks etc.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Joey Gallo hit a 3 run walkoff home run in his AA Debut. Guy is a monster. Dude is Giancarlo Stanton at 3rd base

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 LOL so I'm laying here with my iPad listening to the Drunk Jays Fans Podcast to try to put myself to sleep, and Stoeten mentions this board. Did not have very nice things to say.
