Boston's gonna be pissed coming into the weekend series. As I said earlier, this could snowball into a sweep for the Blue Jays. We know Buehrle is due to get hit around and you have Buckholz (sp?) and Lester coming off bad starts. Bibbons looked pretty worried in the dugout, hopefully he's pissed at AA.

He should be pissed at his bullpen.

Lol @ dad's reaction...man, I'd have "accidentally" dumped a beer all over that f***er.

Pretty ****y of him, but that's Boston.

But I'll reserve judgement because it looks like the guy hands it off to someone else. Maybe his own kid. But, still...

For sure. I also don't think his usage has been that good. He's allowed pitchers to implode right in front of him when it was obvious they didn't have it.

Boston has serious problems, and you've got to wonder if huge changes come to Boston if they lose 2 of 3 or get swept by the Blue Jays. Losing Jacoby Ellsbury, Salty and Stephen Drew has hurt a lot more than thought. 10-13 is not a good thing.

None of their outfield is hitting, with Gomes, Bradley, Sizemore all posting low .200 averages. Only Napoli is hitting, and Bogaerts is hitting (but with zero power). Even Ortiz is struggling. And their rotation is near the bottom of the AL in multiple categories. Peavy, Buchholz and Doubront have significantly regressed this year, and Lackey has been inconsistent. Only Lester is pitching well.

Their run differential is 2nd worst in the AL (Houston is the worst at -35, followed by Boston at -17).

So Jays fans need to realize it could be a lot worse.. we could be the Red Sox right now.

I basically agree. No way they come close to what they did last year, that was a lucky as s*** year for them. I predict Yankees clear cut their way to division champs... their offense is way better than is given credit, and they have some very good pitching too. Tanaka is just dumb.

How sweet would it be to sweep them AND finally nail one of their starters for using something extra? :)

Should be a fun series regardless of the outcome.

I'm done with predicting series. I do hope we crush them, obviously.

I see the Red Sox busting out against the Jays.

Regarding the Yanks, it will depend what happens once the league catches up with Tanaka, and whether their bats stay healthy. Remember also that Nova is gone for the year, Pineda still has question marks, and there are regression issues with Sabathia and Kuroda. And BTW, the Yanks offense isn't actually that great.

You do realize that regression for Kuroda means being better than he is now right? Sabathia (speed issues or not) is currently striking out and walking at a pace better than his career norms? That while being hurt by extremely unsustainable HR/FB (31.6% lol), his xFIP is 2.50, he's actually doing rather great.

Kuroda's peripherals are all down this season so far. As for Sabathia, his current numbers are unsustainable with his FIP well in the 4s. Keep in mind he was pitching against a punchless Red Sox offense with only Napoli and Bogaerts producing. Remember, Boston's outfield doesn't hit, and even Pedroia is struggling.

Sabathia 2.65 xFIP lol

Hey, Farhan Zahidi or whatever the A's assistant GM made some comments regarding limiting the exposure of pitchers to a third time through the order and tandems. One of my favorite GM prospects. I don't know if that's where you got the idea of if he's just agreeing with you, but kinda cool.

Only 83 PA above High A.

4 XBH in 83 PA... that's pretty bad.

I hope we're wrong but I got to agree with u on this one. It's just in the Jays nature to hand this series to them.

If this were the 2013 Red Sox, maybe. But this is not the same team. Not one regular is hitting .300, and they have multiple regulars hitting .250 or less. The pitching isn't much better.

Well that was random

Yeah, who'd have guessed that subjecting an object to 100,000lb of pressure would flatten said object... Would have actually been more interesting if the tubes providing the pressure were larger.

Jays signed former Red Sox/Mariner/D-Back Ryan Rowland-Smith to a minors deal. Could this mean a Stroman callup is coming?

Probably insurance for the upcoming schedule shitstorm next month.

Then again, we have way too many AAAA starters (Happ, Romero, Jenkins, Rogers, Redmond)

I think out of that list, Redmond could be a serviceable 5th starter. Jenkins might be good AAA filler. Scrap the rest - by scrap I mean chuck in the nearest waste disposal.
