kgm1 Verified Member Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Beachy left with a sore elbow / bicep so Atlanta is now probably down 3 at least for the start of the season . Medlen , Minor and Beachy . If they have the money they will certainly be all over Santana . Docs say nothing serious and Minor expects to be ready some time in April but looks like they all won't be ready for opening day. Shades of the Jays rotations of latter years .
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Where was Aaron Sanchez pitching today? I saw on twitter that he had 8 K's, no walks, 2 hits in 4 IP. Was it the game vs. the Canadian juniors, maybe?

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Morrow against some seventeen year old Canadians: 4 innings, 3 walks, 2 K's, 2 earned runs. Welp.

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Fastball was 90-92 MPH , He wasn't throwing breaking balls and his command of the fastball was s*** There's a decent chance that he was trying to give the kids a chance to get some hits and score a bit. Would be a bit of dick move to just come out there and throw down 12 hammers and then leave the game, laughing. New angle - Aaron Sanchez is a bit of a dick.

Odd that he has been throwing 96 the last two games. and does not break 93. I am more or less guessing just putting in his innings but I don't like that. Need him in game shape Drop the hammer on them pimply faced kids.

They didn't have a radar gun in the stadium according to the radio folks.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Also good to see Colby back playing. Thank god he did not have a broken neck lol.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 What a dick a 20-21 year old blowing away the junior team is much more acceptable than someone like Morrow doing it.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Morrow was probably just working on a tweak to his mechanics or something, and was focused on locking that in rather than trying to be nasty to the kids. At least I hope that's what it was.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 JP Arencibia could be facing a DFA or a trip to AAA: Jeff Wilson @JeffWilson_FWST So far in #Rangers camp, Robinson Chirinos has outperformed J.P. Arencibia in all aspects. Hasn't gone unnoticed by club brass. Quote from Rotoworld: Wilson adds that it "hasn't gone unnoticed by club brass." Chirinos is hitting a robust .467/.529/.533 with four RBI this spring, while Arencibia is batting just .150/.150/.250. It's also not hard to envision Chirinos looking better defensively given Arencibia's reputation. Arencibia is set to earn $1.8 million this season, and it's hard to see the Rangers just eating that salary. Chirinos is also capable of playing first and third base, so perhaps the Rangers could consider carrying three catchers. And you wonder why the Jays cut JPA..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I should've said "And we know why the Jays cut JPA"... He still won't walk or hit, and his defense still stinks.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Does anyone actually wonder this? Obviously the Rangers don't like home runz
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Ubaldo Jimenez, one of the pitchers we wanted to sign, got lit up vs. the Phillies. 2.0 IP, 4H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 0Ks, 50 pitches, 2 triples given up. I know it's Spring Training, but that's almost Happ bad when he throws 50 pitches through 2 IP. This seems more like the Jimenez that stank up the Indians in 2011-2012..
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Pitching line for #Brewers Matt Garza: 1.2 IP, 9 H, 10 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 1 K.

There are no buts in Spring Training. It doesn't matter at all. If he did that over the 3rd and 4th innings in an afternoon game against the Royals in August, would you be posting about it? No. And it's more than just the sample size that renders it irrelevant. I'm sure he's working on stuff.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Forgot to mention he threw more balls than strikes..
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 http://i.imgur.com/17KWUqO.gif I'm not complaining or anything, but isn't this video like 2-3 years old? The same guy had a similar catch against the same team IIRC.

I'm not entirely sure, but I know the one you're talking about. I think that one was called the spiderman video, and the CFer was running from LF-RF, not RF-LF like this one. I'm not 100%; just running off memory.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Anyone have a bead on where Santos has been lately? MLB trade rumors only has him with 1 game in spring.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Re-checking the PECOTA ranking as of March 13th: Jays are not picked to lose 90 games or finish last.. they're expected to be a .500 team and 4th, with Baltimore projected to finish last because of a questionable bullpen and a lack of OBP. Of course, they could move up if the Yankees continue to have question marks regarding Sabathia (reduced velocity), Kuroda (age related regression), and Nova (although some of that may be more due to the terrible Yankees defense in the infield). And of course, Tanaka and Pineda are wild cards.. BTW, regarding Sabathia, in his last start, was hitting just 85-86 MPH on the gun, going as high as 88 MPH. If this continues into the season, the Yanks will end up with a albatross of a contract, as Sabathia would basically be a worse version of Mark Buehrle.. except Buehrle has never had the velocity Sabathia did. Tampa's the favorite, BTW, with Boston 2nd, and the Yanks missing the playoffs a 2nd straight year.
