Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 5. The Blue Jays Export a Ton of Farm-System Crops, Plus Mark Buehrle Los Angelheim’s “isn’t a very good system,” BP’s Angels Top 10 Prospects List sighs, so they trade Trout to Toronto for top pitching prospect Marcus Stroman, top young center field prospect D. J. Davis, top young shortstop prospect Franklin Barreto, and one or two of the 486 young pitching studs down in the low, low minors of the Jays’ system. The Angels try to get Colby Rasmus, too, so as to fill center field while Davis matures, but the Jays pacify them with Mark Buehrle because A) the Angels starting rotation isn’t convincing as-is and the Jays just want to see Buehrle get mad at being traded again. —Adam Sobsey http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=22425#.UrGhTmTV-F8.twitter
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Haha. Yeah i would do it. The Angels wouldn't though.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I would do it as well Anyone would besides Mohyou, it's a stupid trade..and he would just say that to troll. I thought the article was going to give real possibilities when I opened the thread. Here's a real offer: Stanton/Fernandez for Trout. Which team wins?
baseballsss Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 clearly the deal starts with sanchez and stroman. The angels will then want a couple good hitting prospects that arent to far away and well the jays dont have s*** for hitting prospects.
bzapple Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Lol. There's living in a fantasy world, and then there's this.

It would take such an absurd package to land him....maybe along the lines of Sanchez, Stroman, and Lawrie + low level prospects. It's a moot point. He's not going to get moved.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Personally I'd be willing to give up Mark Bueherle for Mike Trout.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Personally I'd be willing to give up Mark Bueherle for Mike Trout. I think I would too. I'd even eat a little bit of Beurhle's salary.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I'd eat the whole salary, Trout is so much win.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Haha. Yeah i would do it. The Angels wouldn't though. Without hesitation ten times out of ten I make that deal. No way LAA trades Trout for such a paltry return though.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I would give up Stroman, Sanchez, Davis and more for him.

Just my opinion but Lawrie + Rasmus + Stroman is even a little light.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 We need some actual news. Some people are starting to get a little f***ed up.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 lol.. Sanchez + Stroman + Lawrie doesn't even get a conversation started even if LAA was looking to move him
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I'd eat the whole salary, Trout is so much win. I'd eat Mark Buehrle himself, for Trout.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 I'd eat Mark Buehrle himself, for Trout. I'd eat Mark Buehrle himself and his pitbulls, for Trout.

Nox Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Jose, Stroman, Sanchez plus some other stuff. NJH - article please. Plug these human shaped assets into your spreadsheet of wonder.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 lol.. Sanchez + Stroman + Lawrie doesn't even get a conversation started even if LAA was looking to move him It depends on how high you are on Sanchez and Stroman....if you think they are number 2 type pitchers that's a lot. You don't get trout for life..you get him for 4 years....Baseball is about 25 guys...9 positional players and 5 starters.....LAA didn't make the playoffs the last 2 years with trout.

Last 2 season Trout = ~20 Wins EE + Bautista + Rasmus = ~21 Wins
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I like Zachary Levine's creativity: "Mike Trout to the Giants. The Giants give South Bay territorial rights to the Athletics. The Athletics forfeit their 19 matchups to the Angels." But there's no way the Angels do it. If you say they're expected to go 8-11 in those matchups with Trout, then you're only talking about 11 extra wins. Trout and his 10 WAR would nearly close that gap next season, let alone his four remaining years of control.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 What? Last 2 season Trout = ~20 Wins EE + Bautista + Rasmus = ~21 Wins oh war smar.....the angels have been in the war post season the last 2 years....unfortunately last year they only won 78 games......I agree that LAA will not trade trout because they have the financial means to pay for pieces they would get...but if Oakland or tampa had him they would listen to offers at some point....
Nox Verified Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 oh war smar.....the angels have been in the war post season the last 2 years....unfortunately last year they only won 78 games. So, basically what you're saying is that observed events = true talent and we should not really think any deeper than that?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Buehrle + Barreto + D.J. Davis + Tirado + Labourt for Trout Um where's Sanchez and Stroman? Just an awful offer.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 So, basically what you're saying is that observed events = true talent and we should not really think any deeper than that? I'm saying WAR is a non standardized calculation with a margin of error that many don't understand. I think a team that has a war 8 higher than the 2nd place team in the mlb should at least make the playoffs..the fact that they didn't makes you question certain things. I think a team that has 9 positional players and 5 starters with equal war will win more games than a team with the equivalent war with a few above average war players and many below average war players....but then that's just me.

Where on earth are you getting that? The Angels did not lead the MLB, American League or their division in WAR in 2013. Let alone by 8. I think a team that has 9 positional players and 5 starters with equal war will win more games than a team with the equivalent war with a few above average war players and many below average war players....but then that's just me. That has not proven to be true in the past.
