Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I don't get the logic in trading Stroman in a package for a decent SP. Storman is probably a decent SP next year... It will be Sanchez not Stroman.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Nolin is expendable. To me he's like Marisnick/Alvarez/Nicolino. B+ prospects but not players you would absolutely keep under any circumstances.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Samardzija for Lawrie hahahaha ewwww
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Why would we want Castro? Yeah he's young but massively overrated. Constant bone head mistakes. Can he even play 2B, or are you guys suggesting moving off Reyes?

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 If the Jays are targetting Samardzija, you can be sure AA will overpay for him, if you go by the last 18 months. If he gave up the package he did for Happ, if he gave up Aviles and Gomes for Rogers (after having having only given up Thames to get another RP in Delabar), you can be sure Sanchez and/or Stroman would have to be the centre pieces of any deal for Samardzija.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Nolin isn't near any of those three.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I don't think so. Nolin is below those three. Probably, but I don't think he's that far off Nicolino's value. Nicolino's been younger vs levels for sure, but having made it to AAA last year could increase Nolin's value in the eyes of some teams. Cubs would want Sanchez and/or Stroman as centre pieces for sure.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Samardzija 2 years > Garza pick draft = Mike Olt, C.J. Edwards, Justin Grimm and Neil Ramirez
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Stoeten ""In terms of cost? It’s slightly terrifying. I wrote last month about some spitballin’ that Cubs fans and writers were doing in this regard, which had them come up with Kyle Drabek and Daniel Norris as the keys guys to build a package around– in which case, giddy up!– but obviously you’d have to think that Chicago would be pressing hard for someone like Aaron Sanchez or Marcus Stroman. Maybe not. Maybe “package” implies quantity over quality, to an extent. And, I mean, exactly how much bigger would a package have to be than six years of one of those guys for two of the Shark?? I’d like to think that a deal without them can actually be done. The Cubs no longer have two of the three primary outfielders they used in 2013, having moved Alfonso Soriano and David DeJesus. Another outfielder of thiers, Nate Schierholtz, has been drawing trade interest. The remaining Junior Lake, Ryan Sweeney, and Brian Bogusevic can seem to handle centre (though nobody knew that about Lake until he got to the big leagues last year, where he played the position for the first time), but maybe there’s interest in something like several years of Anthony Gose.""

Yes please....hell, they can have Gose as well.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Norris would be selling low but he's been crap so I won't second guess him.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Remember when people didn't want to trade Drabek and Snider for Greinke (or Upton)? That wasn't even that long ago... and now both are total afterthoughts. Only Wilner is still on the Drabek train lol. Remember when we almost had the freak Tim L (when he was elite). for Alex Rios....If only....

There is no way in hell we are trading one of our premium pitching prospects for a mediocre starter from the National League.
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 He did it for Dickey... Bought him at his highest value. Look at what he is now? Dickey was the Cy Young winner. Try to get some perspective.
vic city Verified Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 What's a realistic price for Samardzija? Is Gose, Norris and Nolin an over payment?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 What's a realistic price for Samardzija? Is Gose, Norris and Nolin an over payment? Not an over payment. I would be fine with that. (if the cubs would accept...which i doubt)
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Ugh, it's going to cost one of Sanchez or Stroman for sure.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 What's a realistic price for Samardzija? Is Gose, Norris and Nolin an over payment? Probably almost anything we could give them that doesn't involve our big two or Lawrie/Edwin/JB would be a win.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Nah, I'd definitely do that. DJ Davis, Osuna and Gose could be a realistic offer that doesn't include Sanchez/Stroman. A package with one of Sanchez/Stroman, DJ Davis and more is an overpayment IMO. Agreed.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Did BTS just delete his post about Sanchez, Pillar, Norris? Ever since ang changed his avatar I've been getting him and BTS confused, for whatever reason. I'm not sure who posted that, That was Ang.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 God damnit! Their avatars aren't even remotely similar, lol.
