mellowgold Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 No, not him. The better Jose. As in Reyes. Yes, it's a 36-game sample size but dude is putting up some kind of numbers. We all know about his contact/on base/speed skills, but I have to admit, I had to do a double take when I noticed he's outSLUGGING everyone on the team outside of Edwin. Really tough to totally hate the Marlins trade when we get to enjoy a player like this (even though we should probably move him to 2B next year).
flafson Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 He's great on offense, has a cannon of an arm but his lack of trying to dive into balls on defense is frustrating to say the least.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Injury prone will be his weakness Great player. If Lawrie and Reyes and Bautista play 420+ healthy games in 2014, in which they are really healthy (no injury related tanks)... that would be a start. I would venture to say I would be very confident we would make the playoffs... but this team never ceases to surprise me. Everyone else would put up a .250 oba or something.

Incredibly small sample size, but Reyes should hit enough doubles (and triples) to keep a very respectable SLG over his Jays career. I don't expect him to pile up the homers though. Great player. Still need starting pitching that isn't mindbottlingly terrible.

A post with lawrie as a possible reason for making the playoffs is humorous indeed. If the jays go to the playoffs with lawrie on team, would be in spite of lawrie.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I would like him at second base next year. Hes played second base in the past. He doesn't have the range to play a great shortstop. Great arm but average range and I haven't seen him dive for a ball. Brendan Ryan might be an option at SS. I know he can't hit. But he gets to everything and more. Baseball politics will not allow this to happen unfortunately.

KSaw Verified Member Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Thought you meant Canseco who was in town Thursday for a stag and got trashed and played underground poker all night. Oh ya, and got turned down by the Jays for a stadium pass or even free tickets. Also blown off regarding his Rogers Centre softball HR contest for charity idea. Talk about distancing yourself from a former player!
