Looking at Pillar's AAA numbers .340, 16 XBH, 4 HR, it is hard to fathom that he is still in AAA. Assuming they leave him down there this season and he continues to hit, I believe he should be the starting LF next season. The guy can flat out hit and should absolutely help this team moving forward.

So AA's going to complete Miami North by blowing it up this offseason? Sweet.

If that means getting rid of Buehrle, Dickey, and Johnson I am all for it.

The guy hasn't played one big league game yet and he's already the starter. Come on now I believe he should get a shot in spring training to crack the team, especially since Davis is likely gone - but the starter already. Melky hasn't been great but he's still hitting around .280.

If Davis has value at the deadline to be a 4th outfielder speed guy for a contending team amd you could package him with a reliever for a decent return then I think that Pillar/Gose could fill that spot next year on the cheap.

Better option than Melky-f***ing-Cabrera. Any value Melky has with his hitting (which is next to nothing) is lost on his lousy defense. I'd say at least 1 in every 3 games Melky doesn't make a play an average outfielder would make.

Well Melky's ~4WAR the two previous seasons say differently. If you think he can't hit anymore because of roids that's up to you. Neither of us know. What I DO know is that he was playing hurt basically all season. I'm not ready to throw him to the curb when the potential is there to buy 4WAR for 8M next year.

The minute our front office/coaches get their hands on him, he'll soon be relegated to the long list of forever AAA players we've produced.

Just give the guy a chance in September to see what we've got.

If he sucks, the talk will stop. If he hits, he'll shut a lot of peoeple on here up.

It's time.

Yeah, but with this front office.. I'm not holding my breath.

PLEASE DO NOT REFERENCE HIS PED INDUCED SEASONS TO MAKE YOUR ARGUMENT. THANK YOU.

I don't know Wtf the problem is giving a 24 year old who's tearing up AAA a shot. If people here can honestly believe that Melky can put up the same PED induced numbers while clean, then they should get their heads examined. Better yet, give AA a call and go together. Ever wonder why Melky body is hurting so much this year? This Melky fiasco this year can be read by an elementary grade student because it's as clear as f***ing day. At least we're only stuck for one more year at 8mil,not too bad considering. Let him DH the majority of the time and he'll probably put up half decent numbers not having to play the outfield, then flip him at the deadline. I'm all for giving Pillar a fair shake next year. Payroll is going up $20 mil with the same roster next year. Now there's a reason to say "good God, make it stop".

Its an interesting situation. Frankly I have no idea what to expect from Melky. I do know he's been absolutely abysmal through 81 games, and that he's looked like a fat 40-year old on the bases and in the field. Steamer and ZiPS have basically identical projections for him as a 1-1.5 fWAR/150 games player ROS. I dunno. I'm leaning more towards dumping his salary on any taker.

High risk, high reward my ass

Melky is done, DFA that piece of s***. A LF without athletic skills, who can't hit for power.

No??? We have already had this thread before and this discussion has been beaten to death. I actually disagree with BTS on what he thinks about Pillar so I advise you to shut the f*** up

F__K are you annoying. ( looks for a stick )

I'm in Buffalo and was at today's game. I'm not a pro scout but i'm telling you guys,Kevin Pillar has got the goods. This kid can flat out hit. His approach is solid and has an uncanny ability in getting the ball to meet the sweet part of the bat. He went 2-4 with a double and a triple and they were both hit where they were pitched,on the outer half going the other way. His triple was hit in the right center field gap and was a line drive that was cut off just before the track, but the speed on the bow legged kid was no match. His defense is above average, covers a lot of ground and has a Rajai Davis type arm. From what i saw,and i know its only one game, this kid shouldn't have a problem sticking in the MLB as an everyday left fielder. In all seriousness,he's an upgrade all around to Melky.

Anthony Gose can play some serious f***ing D,what a hose. I hope he can find consistency at the plate, although he doesn't look over matched at all. Sierra's game winning double came with two out ,Gose on third and Kawasaki at second. It was a high majestic shot that scraped off the top of the wall in left center. Coca Cola Park has a good atmosphere, and best of all ,Canadian money is accepted at par. Buy a bag of popcorn and pay with a $100 bill and get American money in return,LOL.

Even if this kid was exactly equal to Melky as a player I would rather have him up here. A young guy who's worked hard to get this far and who plays hard every day would be very refreshing on this abysmal team.
