Pillar goes 2 for 4 tonight with 2B, 3B, 2RBI. Just sayin'

as reported by Gruber who was at the game

don't forget the two strikeouts...... Gruber do you remember if these were swing and miss K's

Pillar may just be a natural hitter, a guy with uncanny hand eye coordination and that plays at any level. we will see

There isn't a team in the majors that would play Pillar over the FA signee Cabrera who, while annoying to many of us, has played through his injuries all year and is just now coming back apparently healthy. If Cabrera gets hurt again or suspended then I'm not opposed to Pillar getting a full time chance (I do believe in his bat, at a minimum against lefties). Outside of an injury, why bring him up? Let him get his reps in AAA, let him work on playing all 3 OF positions, so if he is our 4th OF he is more valuable to us..or even if he's a starting OF.

Ah cool, missed that! But I don't mind reiterating it.

I'm in Buffalo and was at today's game. I'm not a pro scout but i'm telling you guys,Kevin Pillar has got the goods. This kid can flat out hit. His approach is solid and has an uncanny ability in getting the ball to meet the sweet part of the bat. He went 2-4 with a double and a triple and they were both hit where they were pitched,on the outer half going the other way. His triple was hit in the right center field gap and was a line drive that was cut off just before the track, but the speed on the bow legged kid was no match. His defense is above average, covers a lot of ground and has a Rajai Davis type arm. From what i saw,and i know its only one game, this kid shouldn't have a problem sticking in the MLB as an everyday left fielder. In all seriousness,he's an upgrade all around to Melky.

Anthony Gose can play some serious f***ing D,what a hose. I hope he can find consistency at the plate, although he doesn't look over matched at all. Sierra's game winning double came with two out ,Gose on third and Kawasaki at second. It was a high majestic shot that scraped off the top of the wall in left center. Coca Cola Park has a good atmosphere, and best of all ,Canadian money is accepted at par. Buy a bag of popcorn and pay with a $100 bill and get American money in return,LOL.

Awesome! Thanks a lot!

Agree 100%. Let him get some more reps in at the AAA level,at least the rest of this season and go from there. He won't have a problem maintaining a plus .300 average from what i've seen,so let the cards fall where they may. I really hope AA doesn't trade him,as we need an infusion of his type of game in the line up.

One of his K's was swinging on a 1-2 breaking ball down and away. I can't seem to remember his other K,but i think it was on some belt high heat with two strikes swinging also.

A good comparison to Pillar would be Hunter Pence, IMO.

Most scouts say Reed Johnson, almost en masse.

I've never seen any other comp than Reed Johnson.

Hunter Pence seriously? Wow....that's quite the compliment.

Runs like Pence, defends like him also. Same type of approach, with Pillar being more quiet at the plate. The only thing right now is that Pence looks to have a little more HR pop, but don't let that fool you cause Pillar is physically solid. Line drives all day.

you're an idiot bro, sorry.

Pence can draw walks and hit for pop.
