Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I'm fully expecting it. Remember we have jpa as our catcher and as long as hes out there 4/5 days we will not win anything.
ReturnOfTheYeti Verified Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Remember we have jpa as our catcher and as long as hes out there 4/5 days we will not win anything. Yeah - umm, kind of think that the problem is a WHOLE lot bigger than just running JPA out there 4 days out of 5...
flafson Verified Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I say we go on a run, win 100% of the remaining games and clinch wild card.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 JPA will hit 8 bombs in Sept, Goins and Pillar will hit over .300, Bautista/Rasmus will come back strong from their injuries, RA Dickey whave his best month of the season, Buehrle will continue to be solid, the back-end of the rotation will find a way to fill just enough quality innings, the BP will continue to be great and the Jays will go 16-10.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I say we go on a run, win 100% of the remaining games and clinch wild card. Lucking out in the wild card game, advancing to the ALCS before meagerly bowing out despite strong performances from Redmond and Rogers, prompting the team to be comfortable as is, enters 2014 with Redmond/Rogers as #4/5, starts out 3-17, holds down the #1 draft spot for most of the year before winning 23 in a row to finish 81-81.

If I remember correctly we had reached 5th place last year in August as well, only to go on a slight run to put us in 9th (10th because of Pitts comp pick). Clint Frazier...
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 We moved up one spot to 7th tonight 1. Houston .336 2. Miami .377 3. Chicago W .420 4. Chicago C .424 5. Minnesota .438 6. Milwaukee .443 7. Toronto .444 8. San Francisco .447 9. Los Angeles A .454 10. New York M .454 11. Toronto (Comp)
flafson Verified Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I don't think we can do better than 5th, no way.
ReturnOfTheYeti Verified Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I don't think we can do better than 5th, no way. It's possible, a number of the teams ahead have 1 or 2 games in hand. Of course, that only comes into play should they win I don't think that 4th is out of the question but 4-7 would be great. I too fear a late season run but the saving "grace" is that there still a large number of games against the AL East and that's where they've had the most problems.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Here comes the end of the year "loser rally" that takes us out of prime drafting position.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 We've fallen 3 spots and currently own the 10th and 11th picks. As long as we stay in the top 10 I'll be happy, but hopefully we can move back into the 5-6 range. 1. Houston .333 2. Miami .377 3. Chicago C .421 4. Chicago W .424 5. Minnesota .435 6. Milwaukee .439 7. San Francisco .447 8. Seattle .447 9. San Diego .447 10. Toronto .448 11. Toronto (Comp)

Convo Verified Member Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 The first 10 picks are protected. The Blue Jays shouldn't be excited about their wins then - dumbasses!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 The first 10 picks are protected. Which only really matters if we sign a free agent who declined a qualifying offer. Which isn't very likely. 5 vs 11 matters Not sure 10 vs 11 really does
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Which only really matters if we sign a free agent who declined a qualifying offer. Which isn't very likely. The possibility of it is important though. Think about a McCann who could warrant a QO, or a Choo.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 You're right I want Choo. TANK DAMMIT! A new member of #tanknation #tanknation welcomes you
SAAviour Verified Member Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Next year I'm cheering for tank nation on April 1st because as soon as I really got into it and really wanted these f***ers to lose they started winning. Going for first pick next season.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Which only really matters if we sign a free agent who declined a qualifying offer. Which isn't very likely. 5 vs 11 matters Not sure 10 vs 11 really does Don't forget there's also the issue of slot values. The 10th pick was worth 2.9mm this year compared to 3.7mm for the 5th pick and 3.5mm for the 6th. That's a difference of up to 800k, which is close to what we signed a guy like Tellez for. Every little bit helps.
