15 of the remaining 16 are against the AL East. I'm betting that 6-10 is the best that could be hoped for but if there's a schedule that's primed for tanking, this is it!

Agree. Most games against Yankees, Orioles and Rays, all desperate to win every single game.

The problem is that teams like the Mets and Padres are pretty much shot and aren't likely to do much to help any tank cause other than their own

Just judging the teams at a glance, Colorado and San Diego are probably worse than Toronto right now, so they should drop. But at the same time, I think San Fran and maybe Seattle are better than Toronto, so they might be able to leap the Jays. 10th seems about right.

Strength of schedule will mean more than individual team quality though.

Jays: O's x 5, Red Sox x 3, Yanks x 3, Rays x 3, White Sox x 1.Very Strong. (14 strong, one weak)

Giants: Dodgers x 5, Padres x3, Yanks x3, Mets x3. Medium (8 strong, 6 weak)

Mariners: Cards x2, Tigers x4, Angels x3, Athletics x3, Royals x3. Strong (9 strong, 3 med, 3 weak)

Padres: Braves x 2, Pirates x4, Dodgers x3, DBacks x4, Giants x3 Strong

Rockies: Cards x4, Dbacks x5, Red Sox x2, Dodgers x3 Strong

Phillies: Marlins x6, Mets x3, Nats x2, Braves x4 Weak

Depends on team schedules too of course. For us that's good because ours is brutal, most against good division rivals who are trying to get the WC spot. Hopefully (I haven't checked) at least a couple of those west teams have an easier go the rest of the way and are playing for pride.

Seattle plays STL DET and CAA, that's a bit tough

Giants play LAD NYM and NYY that's no joke normally but if Yankees are eliminated by the last series (likely) they may throw in the towel, and the Dodgers may coast a bit since they've got the division wrapped up.

Ha, I was just editing that post with their schedules as you were typing this.

As long as Gibby keeps putting Sierra in the OF that should be good for a couple of extra losses

And sends Happ out for three more starts!

Happless will get his starts and lucky for us Gibby has no other options in the outfield . That should be good for 4 losses right there . Add to that someone decent is bound to get injured so 9th isn't that far a stretch .

At least we have 2 picks one after the other...

Although i would probably prefer having 10 and 11 and not 11 and 12.

We want the 2013 season one to be top 10 protected though in case we want to sign a free agent who received a qualifying offer.

McCann

Choo

Beltran

Garza

All possible (though some unlikely) to be targeted

Are those the only 4 guys? If so I don't think the protected pick will make one iota of difference since the Jays won't be in on any of them. The last time the Jays has a protected pick, it didn't matter either.

Cano

Ellsbury

McCann

Pence?

Burnett

Kuroda

Granderson??

Santana??

Lincecum maybe??

Beltran isn't a sure thing to get an offer.

Off chance that some guys like Morales or Infante get offers too.

I don't think the Rangers can get comp for Garza so no point in them making him an offer.

Yeah, guys acquired mid season don't have a comp pick attached.

Same would go for Nolasco. I wonder how much money he'll get... great career year but 4.33 career ERA while pitching in the NL in massive stadiums his whole career.

Of course not

Lots of free agents

Some will get QO

I just listed a few that I'd like to see them negotiate with

Couldn't have been better

Buerhle was OK

Drabek looked excellent

I really want Choo, but we have to get rid of Melky somehow, otherwise he'd just be a sunk cost.

I'm not even letting myself hope for Choo TBH. Just seems so unlikely.

I can live with Cabrera/Rasmus/Bautista/Gose as our OF next year

But I want JPA gone for McCann, Ruiz or Piern and I want Garza or Tanaka signed
