burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Half a game out of a top 15 pick. But it won't be protected, so I guess we won't sign any free agents this year for once. Watch they will sign a free agent so we lose the top 15 pick..

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Watch they will sign a free agent so we lose the top 15 pick.. Only if it's a pitcher. Jays will almost certainly give Cabrera a QO. Rasmus is uncertain. And the free agent market is seriously thin on bats..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Wow, I didn't realize Texas has been that bad. Though when you have JPA as your everyday first baseman it is never a good sign. Jon Daniels probably gets canned so Ryan can bring in an old school former player to f*** the team over for years. ANd likely takes Ron Washington with him too. Looks like the Rangers are back to the bad old days of big bats and no pitching, and no contention.. sounds like the Buffalo Bills.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Ditto for Rasmus. I think Rasmus might a long shot at this point actually.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I think Rasmus might a long shot at this point actually. Probably. I'd like to see him brought back on a one year pillow contract. The FA market is bare thin for CF's and Pompey is not quite ready yet.

It would free up money to address other needs.

It would free up money to address other needs. Not the end of the world. I get why people would be hesitant to bring back Colby. His 0.4 fWAR is pretty ugly and i can see why one would want to move on from that. I just see a player that was looking at a massive contract post 2013 and has a good chance at providing surplus value on a one year deal. (and then maybe a QO draft pick, or trade deadline talent). The low fWAR is pretty much due to his UZR and if we average his UZR from his last 3 years. ( about the time it takes to stabilize) i think it's fair to say he's not as bad defensively as the metrics point to this year. (Also, probably wasn't as good last year as the metrics indicate). I just hate to see him walk for nothing.

His DRS also suggests that he is not the defender he is from last year. I think Rasmus will want to go somewhere else for a fresh start and Gose might just provide as much value as Rasmus with the defence and baserunning. Neither of them are everyday players IMO.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Looks like Blue Jays will be in that 15-17 spot. Not a bad pick by any means.

We're basically in the WORST SPOT IMAGINABLE... basically the highest spot in the standings w/o actually being in contention.... this is the worst thing a baseball team can do for the clubs future viability.

Would you rather be in the Twins position? I wouldn't.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I wouldn't mind having Buxton and Sano. Those guys are going to rape baseballs in Minnesota before long. They both have amazing talent but their recent injuries are a concern. Still, Id much rather have the Blue Jays org. talent.
