GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I wonder where we will be at the end of the night in the standings. 6th? I would think 7th. Awesome.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Looks like we have 8 and 11 now. 1. Houston .331 - Carlos Rodon 2. Miami .378 - Trea Turner 3. Chicago W .409 - Tyler Beede 4. Chicago C .425 - Tyler Kolek 5. Los Angeles A .437 - Michael Cederoth 6. Milwaukee .438 - Alex Jackson 7. San Francisco .441 - Jacob Gatewood 8. Toronto .442 - Michael Gettys 9. San Diego .449 - Nick Gordon 10. Minnesota .449 - Jeff Hoffman 11. Toronto (Comp) - Touki Toussaint
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Alright! Goins with 2 hits, lawrie with a home run, Redmond shows he is not an option for next year, and arencebia pads his home run resume...and we win 4-12!
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 If we can continue to move up and we can't get Rodon I want either Cederoth or this guy. Check out the velocity bro!

I would rather Hill at 8 at that point, but Toussaint or Morgan at 11 would be wieotwrtiphwtyes. Alright! Goins with 2 hits, lawrie with a home run, Redmond shows he is not an option for next year, and arencebia pads his home run resume...and we win 4-12! Selective rooting heaven.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 (edited) Omfg if Gatewood AND Jackson get picked ahead of us I'll kill someone. Jackson would be bananas. 14hr this year as a high school junior. 6 for 9 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a triple at last years Area Code games. *91mph from home to second, 1.73pop time. Commence drooling. I would rather Hill at 8 at that point, but Toussaint or Morgan at 11 would be wieotwrtiphwtyes. I'm a little more bearish on Gatewood than I was before, and Morgan doesn't look like an early first-rounder at this point. Hill or Toussaint would be nice though. Edited August 24, 2013 by ace3113
CHRIS Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 and arencebia pads his home run resume...and we win 4-12! This part is not good. JPA at 20 dingers now. AA's auto-extension bell in his head just went off.
Jays Verified Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 20 homers from a catcher who's playing hurt is good production. No way is AA getting rid of Arencibia.

Gotta love Rodon, he's the best pitcher in the draft right now IMO, and he's a lefty! I think Kolek and Beede are the next best arms but, the draft is still a ways away. Looks like it could be fairly pitching heavy at the top, it could bode well for the teams picking ~6-10 looking to get a bat.

The teams picking at the top are Houston, Miami, and the Chicagos, and then teams like Milwaukee and LAA. I dunno how many of those guys take pitching. I think the Cubs will and the Brewers might, but some of those bats may not get to us, and we may be stuck taking another unsignable HS arm or something.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 This is f***ing glorious! We won again 5-8. Pillar with a homer, Edwin homer. I wonder what the tv audience is for these big victories?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 We're tied for 5th place! Tyler Kolek baby! 1. Houston .336 - Carlos Rodon 2. Miami .383 - Trea Turner 3. Chicago W .409 - Michael Cederoth 4. Chicago C .422 - Tyler Beede 5. Toronto .438 - Tyler Kolek 6. Milwaukee .438 - Alex Jackson 7. San Francisco .438 - Jacob Gatewood 8. ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Omfg, this is glorious. I know. We have a chance at Beede, Kolek, Jackson, Gatewood, Cederoth. It would almost make up for this horrible year (at least for me).
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 We need an elite hitting prospect. Just give us Jackson, damnit.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Is anyone else seriously salivating at the prospect of having a top catching prospect in our system? I long until the day we can have a catcher that actually contributes to the club.

Rodon is what this team needs right now, and won't cost millions plus term, or prospects. He would make an immediate impact and fill our biggest need (a top-of-the-rotation starter).

There just isn't enough time left in the season. Our lineup right now is enough to be considered full tank mode, tbh. Our pitching is enough to cancel out Lawrie and EE. It's just too late. We can hope Rodon slips, but honestly, at #5, I'm confident we're gonna get an impact prospect no matter what. #1 Sanchez #2 Draft pick #3 Osuna #4 Norris #5 Davis With guys like Barreto and Tellez and Brentz and Tirado, plus guys like Stroman and Jimenez and Nolin probably graduating. That's pretty damn nice.

All I want for the rest of the season is to see the young guys play (Pillar, Nolin, Gose, Stroman, Jimenez, Stilson), watch guys like Edwin, Lawrie, Bautista, etc. finish strong, and get a high pick and thus a larger bonus pool/better prospect.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Another win tonight!!! Go Blue Jays!

SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 We should let dickey rest his shoulder and call up Rickey. Maybe we can trade Buerhle away before aug 31 as well, though I'm starting to think he might be a nice low rotation option next year. Let Reyes rest his legs for next year and see what goins has got. Keep throwing JP out there and we are golden.

Convo Verified Member Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 ... You completely lost me at 'call up Rickey'.
