wilko Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 My favourite thing about JP is that, after having time to reflect on the incredibly stupid, douchey things he says, never regrets any of it. Of course he wouldn't regret it. He's a f***ing moron.
8D Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 JPA now has the same amount of passed balls to walks. He also hit 10 walks before he reached the 100K mark. He sits comfortably at 93Ks though. Improvement.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 so the organization hasn't taken action on this yet? JPA needs a good whipping
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 so the organization hasn't taken action on this yet? JPA needs a good whipping I think the best way to deal with JP is to completely ignore him. He's an attention whore.
KSaw Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 so the organization hasn't taken action on this yet? JPA needs a good whipping The organization won't be doing anything. Keep in mind that Zaun may sue for slander and if he does, Rogers Sportsnet will be a plaintiff too. Well that would be messy. And while everyone may be tempted to assume that won't happen because Rogers also owns the Jays and employs Arencibia, that's just not the case. If Zaun's legal representation advises that he sue, he will.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 He can't really sue if he doesn't lose endorsements or earnings because of what JP said. He can make a point, I guess. They can go on the premise that it may cause future ramifications on his earning potential.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 He can't really sue if he doesn't lose endorsements or earnings because of what JP said. He can make a point, I guess. I really doubt he'll sue. It would mean a whole lot of attention over the steroid stuff that Zaun would probably rather everyone forget (whether he's guilty or not). The bad press could put his job in jeopardy too. He really has absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose.

He really has absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose. I have no idea if he will or not. It'll come down to what he's advised to do. When he was asked about this on PTS he simply said that he hasn't ruled it out. He has a year to decide? I think it's a year...
KSaw Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 He can't really sue if he doesn't lose endorsements or earnings because of what JP said. He can make a point, I guess. Could claim that the comments caused him personal emotional stress. Could claim that they have hindered ability to do his job by alienating him from Arencibia's teammates. Could claim that he's been but in an uncomfortable situation being that he works for a company that also owns the Blue Jays. There is also the possibility that Sportsnet sues. This would make the most sense. Zaun would be named as a plaintiff but it would be a suit filed by his employer. This isn't unheard of. Divisions of GM have sued other divisions. Companies within Time Warner have sued each other, the Oakland A's are a defendant in the City of San Jose's suit over moving the A's to San Jose. I guess that it's benificial at times for businesses to use the legal system.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 JPA is so bad, that he's turned Zaun against him. Zaun compared JPA to Piazza and I think had argued with Hayhurst in his favor. He's basically turned Zaun into a guy now liked by members of this board when he used to be ridiculed...lol. Not me though, I dislike both of them.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 So I just heard Zaun's reaction to Arencibia's rant. Funny he repeats what he's said before that he wants Arencibia swinging for homers and doubles because he doesn't want him getting tired on the bases, i.e. clogging the bases, lol. He says he needs to be better in situational hitting and his defense. Well, I guess Zaun doesn't see that swinging for the fences is a big part of Arencibia's problems in his hitting approach and mechanics. I'll say this, all of the issues that are being talked about right now should've been worked on since 2011 when JPA was the starter. Maybe they have and JPA just hasn't gotten it. Either way it reflects badly on the organization.
KSaw Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Arencibia is naturally gifted. He even had Joe Torre gushing over him this Spring. A lean, muscular athlete with a strong arm and a power bat at the catcher position? Sounds too good to be true. It is. He just doesn't get it and simply doesn't improve. The stone hands, the bad footwork, the bad pitch selection, the refusal to square up behind the plate, the never positioning his mitt over his right knee with left handed batters at the plate, all of it just ruin what baseball people see in him. There's no denying that the kid has a ceiling far beyond what we've seen but without the work and an open mind, there's no way he reaches it.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Sal Fasano was on FAN 590 today: http://pmd.fan590.com/audio_on_demand-3/Sal-Fasano-with-Sam-Cosentino-and-Eric-Smith-bc-20130718-Interview.mp3 A couple of interesting tidbits. When asked why he's a "roving" instructor and not dedicated to the MLB club to work with JP he said "I try to get up there when I can." and "it's up to Alex" Bottom line, it's clear the FO doesn't have this figured out. They have a catcher who's below average defensively, they may or may not realize it, and they definitely aren't getting him the catching instruction he clearly needs. Brutal. #ZaunWasRight

Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Poor JPA ego - taking blow after blow. He's trying to fight back but it's a hopeless fight.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 lol what a blowhard. Your job is to catch the ball and hit the ball, go f***ing do that. Yeah this is bad, jpa actually thinks he has some say for the players in the locker room LOL his starting pitchers don't even respect him let alone his team.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 @greggzaun: @StivBators Interesting take on JP's comments. He is wrong though. Jamie, Dirk, and I don't work for the Jays. We work for Rogers Sportsnet @greggzaun: @StivBators Furthermore, It's not our job to act as PR directors for him. I don't get paid to portray him or his performance positively. @greggzaun: @StivBators I get paid to tell the truth and give honest evaluation of performance and my honest opinion. It's never personal
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I've been one of the few that hasn't been bashing the hell out of JPA on here, but those comments and actions are absolutely ridiculous. He needs a change of scenery.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Good responses from Zaun, I'm glad he is aware of this. Hopefully they can get him on PTS today. Great response from Zaun.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Lol this whole season is turning into a s*** show. I hope JPA is sent packing soon. It's amazing how stupid he is.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 JP is taking his ball and going home guys. My GOD what a pussy this guy is. He is so unlikable.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 how is Obama going to help JPA not be a loser?
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Hopefully this is JP's "Tu es maricon" moment.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Hopefully this is JP's "Tu es maricon" moment. Mark DeRosa should sabotage JP's eye black to say "Zaun sux cocks" so that AA has to trade him
