Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Official wasted starts counter: Wang = 5 Ortiz = 4 Jenkins = 3 Romero = 2 Nolin =1 Laffey = 1 16 in 83 games, for 19% of the schedule. Not bad. Holy s*** dude, well what would you do given the situation they were in? Trade a prospect for Joe Saunders or something? It's really easy to criticize but I don't see you offering up better scenarios. Jenkins did just fine and Romero is supposed to be an established SP so take those 5 starts off.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 He's making a statement about the depth AA has assembled. There aren't any other in-house solutions and that's the problem - you don't see other teams running out guys like Ortiz or Redmond. Yes you do Boston, Yankees, Orioles have been rolling out some weak links this year
flafson Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 WEDNESDAY: Wang would accept an assignment to Triple-A Buffalo instead of electing free agency, agent Alan Chang of Octagon told Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/starter-wang-would-accept-role-in-buffalo/
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Wow. Nobody saw this move coming.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 <<<>>> Which is exactly what Beeston and AA stated was the team philosophy. So why the change in direction ?? The owner pushed for this move !!! I firmly believe this ! I believe AA was smart enough to know this wasn't the year . Agreed that this is the cause of most knowledgeable fans . But we are in a minority . MOST fans would rather AA trade away what little we have on the farm for a rental and then when it didn't work go away and use the excuse of non competitiveness as to why . Frustrating as it is I see no reason to call for AA,s head , Beeston,s maybe !
kgm1 Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Wow. Nobody saw this move coming. Where is He going to go that would give him a better shot at getting back . Jays rotation is a mess

Frustrating as it is I see no reason to call for AA,s head , Beeston,s maybe ! For me its more of a case of what I expect to happen than what I want to see happen. AA will deal off more prospects and give this all he can to get this team into the post season this year or next, otherwise he knows his job will be lost.
8D Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Yeah, I can buy that - there is definitely a compelling case to be made that AA was instructed from above. I'm really just fed up with the entire management team though. I want everyone gone. Start with Beest and work your way down. Keep Gibby - he's a boss. If ownership did dictate AA to make these bold moves, you still want AA gone? AA has made some very solid moves in the past...
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 It's odd usually perception is that teams that bring up their prospects are non contending, Jays fans seem to be clamoring for Stroman to keep that slight hope alive. I really don't care about his service time or anything else at this point, I'd love to see him up here as a fan. I think expectations will be that of a saviour which I don't think will happen.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 You need to improve, you must work harder. Sorry bro... I won't disappoint you next time
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Glad to see Wang gone, he did a good job for a few starts though
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Well, the creator of said meme is bad, and (s)he should feel bad. The "Aliens guy" meme should be one word only! And frankly, that picture with the word "Wang" under it, when he's got his hands held out like that could have been pretty funny. Yeah... I guess the "You suck Wang" seemed more appropriate because of how atrocious his last 2 starts were
mtljaysfan Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Wang's DFAing is no surprise after his last start. The guy's so inconsistent, he's either excellent (in 2 starts) or awfaul (in 3 other starts). I blame yesterday's loss on Gibby, he shoud've pulled Wang quickly after Wang gave up back to back hits starting 2nd inning. (And after what happened in Boston where Wang gave up 7 runs in the 2nd inning). Still I find many poster's hating on Wang unfair. He's what he's, we took a chance on him and it did not work (well he pitched excellent in 2 starts out of 5). If you want to blame, blame our GM to have him to start for us, and blame our manager to leave him too long. Now hope we can find a better option to replace him.
EdelweissBouquet Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Joel Maddon would Have pulled him after the double Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2 LOL..madden.. you guys still drop to your knees for this guy. He'll end up being one of the many who have never won a championship.
EdelweissBouquet Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 " and yes it pisses me off that Romero self destructed and then the Jays mishandled it and really screwed him up " WTF is this ?? OMG there's the "jays screwed him up " again . What a F___ing freak show this collection of posters most of you are.. pointing fingers is the predominate theme, next is second guessing and then it's resort to belligerency.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 I'm glad Wang accepted the assignment. I actually think most of his issues are pitch selection (overusing the sinker) more than anything else. He seems to have it in his head that it's all he should throw, but he doesn't throw mid 90's any more and can't get away with it.
