George Costanza: To think I’d fail at failing.

Jerry Seinfeld: Oh come on.

George Costanza: I can’t do anything wrong.

Jerry Seinfeld: Nonsense. You do everything wrong.

George Costanza: You think so?

Jerry Seinfeld: Absolutely. I have no confidence in you.

George Costanza: Well, I guess I’ll have to pick myself up, dust myself up, and throw myself right back down again!

Jerry Seinfeld: That’s the spirit! You suck.

Yup the tank is dead. Might as well just hope they can get hot now and do some damage in the playoffs.

ARGH

As long as they don't play a team like Miami or Indiana, they could likely squeeze past the first or second round, especially with home court advantage. I can't believe I'm saying this lol. I think Brooklyn is too good of a team to be this bad; the Knicks I could understand. It's fun to see the Raptors play well, though at the same time it's painful because next year's draft class is out of this world.

They're not getting to the conference finals lol.

I really hope that Ujiri doesn't do any win now moves at the trade deadline. This team in any other year is at best, an eighth seed.

The unfortunate truth is that Miami or Indiana will be waiting in the second round no matter who they play. Just the way the bracket works.

Ross has been amazing since he filled in for Gay in the starting lineup. His D on PG last night was excellent. JV has been doing much better on offense too. He's starting to show a few nice post moves to go with that running hook.

I don't follow the NBA close enough to know, is there a team out there they can trade with too make an addition for a playoff run? I'm not thinking these Raps are suddenly elite by any stretch, but really, a Legit PF that could push Amir to the bench whilst trading Landry Fields or Steve Novak or both would seem to be a good idea.

I don't think there's any question that Amir is a legit starting PF and with Patterson playing so well, there's not much of a need. I'm really not sure what they need, but there will be a partner if we want to pay up.

Novak and Fields have extreme negative value, I'm not sure we'd have much luck moving them.

Amir Johnson's the second best PF in the East

That's not exactly impressive when all the premier power forwards are in the west. Again, I don't profess to be an expert on the NBA but what other position would they target an upgrade? JV, Lowry and DeRozan aren't going anywhere, that leaves Ross and Amir.

SF. Put Ross on the bench and get another 2 way player who can shoot the ball well to stick next to DeRozan. Salmons+ our pick should net someone decent with all the teams in the East tanking. Thad Young/Aaron Afalio (sp)

You're criminally underrating Amir just like all the other casual fans in the nba. Sure he doesn't fill up the the stat sheet like the other star pf's but he's super efficient and an elite defensive player according to the metrics. He's a top 10 pf in the league, Derozan isn't even in the tsame league as him in terms of production.

Honestly, I'd trade Derozan and Lowry before Amir. Lowry because he's an expiring, derozan because he's an inefficient chucker.

I get trading Lowry, but that wouldn't be improving the team for a playoff run. I think that's where the Raps are going this year since tank Nation is obviously dead.

Definitely have to agree with that. I've mentioned that it's probably in the team's best interest to trade derozan to try to get a pick. He doesn't really add much to the team and he's likely at his peak in terms of value.

Yeah.... I'm all for trading Steve Novak and Landry Fields for a legit PF.

.... Just like I'm in favor of trading Ricky Romero and Maicer Izturis for a legit number 2 starter.

Yeah... Amir is one of those seriously sneaky awesome players. Ross has been super impressive as well. It's amazing how good the defense has been.

Obviously an upgrade would help, but I think Salmons is a nice complement to Ross, vetrin presentz to go with solid defense and ball handling.

If I'm Ujiri, I stand pat for now. There's no obvious holes and things are clicking. See if there is a move to be made with Fields, Novak, or Hayes, that's about it. Maybe he can dump one for an expiring or something.

People keep talking about tanking.... like I was listening to this podcast today.

http://www.raptorsrepublic.com/2014/01/02/talking-raptors-rapcast-ep-10-belated-happy-new-year/

People talk about tanking like it's an easy option with a guaranteed outcome.

It's damn near impossible to tank that bad, in order secure a top 5 of the draft.... especially how easy the schedule is getting after the next couple of games.

I think he should try to get a defense first big to replace Hayes

I don't know how many of you watch it, but there's this show Open Gym that airs on NBA TV that gives an inside look at the Raptors. This one in particular gives you an interesting look at players' reactions after the Rudy Gay trade. The players find out about the trade at around the 10 minute mark of the video.
