I still don't understand the allure of the Knicks. New Yorkers are *******s, the Knicks are a mess of a franchise and it seems like every star player who goes there ends up regretting it.

KD trying to build a brand more then anyone except LJ. So best place to be is either in NY or LA but even if he goes to the Clips, KD would just be second fiddle out in LA. He’s already won titles and has all the doubters so it’d do wonders for his legacy to take a Knicks team to the Finals... I personally hate NYC but if you’re rich and famous it’s a different world

It's not really about the Knicks as much as it is for the location. New York City is ranked as the #1 most desirable city in the world. For a 30 year old single athlete, Los Angeles and New York will always be two of the most appealing cities.

You would think the Nets would be a more desirable team, but then I remembered that most NY fans care little about the Nets.

That injury was so tough to watch. You could see KD feeling good in warmup, doing spin moves and dunks, albeit at like 30% explosiveness. Then in the first quarter he was nailing shots and had an energetic exchange with FVV, but he was still not trying anything explosive.

He was probably feeling zero pain. Then there were like, two offensive possessions where he tried to exert himself a little bit more. On the second one he went to push off that leg athletically and naturally for really the first time and it just popped.

That game was also tough to watch. Yikes.

You can see the achilles rupture happen:

Can't believe he played with an achilles sprain. Insane.

this was my thought exactly. Sounds like durant's injury is pretty much the achilles heel for the warriors.

See, if I were him I'd do something like return the Bulls to glory or lead a wayward franchise like the Hornets or Timberwolves to the finals.

You would go to the Hornets or Timberwolves? lol no you wouldn't!

I know you're not entirely serious but the Hornets are a terrible franchise owned by Michael Jordan so you'd always be in his shadow, and the Bulls aren't really that attractive nowadays either, plus New York > Chicago. Minnesota is a joke of a franchise.

The equation has changed for Durant anyway. He'll still get a max deal from someone I bet but post-injury I think he needs a good supporting cast now more than ever. The Warriors wouldn't even be a bad place to go back to, depending on how he feels about how this whole injury went down. If they could just reload their bench with some youthful energy and defense they'll be right back in it next year.

Apparently KD has a player option for 31.5M next year. Given that he may not play, or at least may not play for most of the year, there's now talk he may exercise it. Pressuring him to play could end up a VERY expensive decision for GS, unless they have insurance on his contract.

As a noob basketball fan: why would Durant want to leave Golden State if they can afford to keep him? If he's healthy this year, they probably win another title. Why not stick around and try to build one of the best dynasties ever?

Aw ok, yeah that could be an option for him as well. I bet he could still cash in on the max from some team though and the Warriors may not be willing to give it to him.

They have some prickly personalities on the team and he's one of them. Not sure how well everyone is meshing at this point but it's tough to say for certain. He's a business guy as well and I know he enjoys being close to Silicon Valley for that reason but NY and LA also offer a lot in that regard, probably more. They have some other FAs too (pretty sure Klay Thompson is one) so some just kind of assume that all dynasties end eventually.

I do agree with you though, GS is not a bad place to stick around and I could certainly see him do that.

Well, the prevailing thought was they didn’t need him. And he couldn’t bring his old team to the next level so he had to sell out and join the team he couldn’t beat. So he can rack up 5 or 6 rings and that narrative would still be there. I think a lot changes with that narrative if they lose this year though... and I think they will

Because since the day he has signed there all he’s gotten is legions of basketball fans talking s*** about him for taking the easy path, telling him he ruined the league by making such an incredibly stacked team, and had Golden State fans talking s*** that they didn’t really need him to win. He won two NBA Finals MVP awards and even then you have angry ****s like Draymond questioning his motives and challenging him to leave. He basically did the full LeBron: abandoned a team that couldn’t get over the hump, joined a team with multiple All-NBA talents to win multiple easy titles, and now, ostensibly, he wants to leave so he can build a championship team around his own identity without people saying he was just playing on easy mode. However, I think this injury drastically changes the landscape.

Durant has a $31m player option next year and he’ll prob pick it up since he’s going to miss the season... well, I think he picks it up for sure if GS loses.

My thinking also. GS owes him that money for sacrificing his body. Why should another team pick up the tab when he won’t play at all?

This is the least amount of coverage a Stanley Cup Game 7 Final has ever received in this City.

I had honestly forgotten this was a baseball forum and we have a baseball Team.. I was living and dreaming Raptors 24/7... And s***ing my pants.. A lot.. :(

Raptors only team so far to have 1 home win.. It would be sweet for the atmosphere and optics to win at home. However, I can't take another loss and the pressure of game 7 where we could not only lose, but be talked about as one of the greatest chokes/upsets in finals history.. So, we need to win tonight! I am fed up with s***ing my pants :(
