Not sure how seriously to take this but Basketball Reference has the Raptors as the favourite for the top seed in the EC and also the conference winners. 24.6% chance to win it all behind only Golden State. Of course their computers are also spitting out only a 3.2% chance for the Spurs so colour me a bit skeptical. Their models must be highly reliant on point differential because right now Raps > Cavs and Rockets > Spurs when it comes to points and that's reflected in the playoff outcomes too.

 

538 had the Raps as the 2nd best chance to win the Title as well at around 10% I believe.

I could see them winning the top seed in the East. Maybe a 10% chance to beat the Cavs in the playoffs with their current roster? Their model doesn't take into consideration the Lebron James effect obviously.

 

We should probabsly trade JV for a big to match up with Love and Frye better.

Would love him if he ever stayed healthy. He was injury prone in college and he's been even more injury prone in the NBA. Raptors already rejected a Ross for Noel swap.

 

You're not selling high on Ross either. He's a good player that's getting better. We need his 3PT shooting.

 

I would be all for packaging Ross, JV, and mutiple firsts for Cousins. But the Kings aren't going to make that trade. Atleast not yet.

 

Definitely agree Powell should be taking some of Joseph's minutes and the 2 PG backcourt should be limited.

That 2 PG lineup has the highest Net RTG of any lineup in the NBA. Definitely should not be limited.

 

Agree about Ross, the team needs his shooting. He should be shooting it more tbh. Wonder if the Pacers change their mind about Paul George. He'd be a perfect fit too.

Bebe probably just needs more in game reps to work out the kinks, but he's looking like a legit front line player. His offensive game sort of reminds me of Amir Johnson with his ability to catch the ball and finish in traffic

How much does Patterson get this offseason? I'd say 4/60 but if Biymombo got 72 then Patterson should get at least that.

 

Patterson isn't worth 4/60. I've never been a big fan.

He's one of their best players and is a lot better than Biyombo was. Like Amir Johnson where you didn't really notice all the stuff he does but there is a reason why he has one of the best net ratings. Perfect stretch 4

He's a backup PF who could play starter minutes off the bench if you need him to, though I'd rather the Raptors use that money to bring back Lowry or to actually sign a starting PF. His RPG are up this season, averaging about 6 per game which is nice. Though I'm not a big fan of Patterson at 15M per season for a 6th man.

He's at least the 3rd best player on the team, likely 2nd. I think are overlooking him based on his per game totals. He's a fantastic defender allowing players to shoot 5% worse than they normally they do. http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/202335/defense-dash/

 

And he spaces the floor allowing Lowry and Derozan to drive to the rim. There is a reason the Raptors have their worst net rating of any player when he's off the floor.

This is really ugly.

 

I think they'll win, but they really need to stop digging these holes in the first half.

I'll qualify my above statement by saying they'll win, but only if the refs stop letting Howard body check everyone in the paint indriscriminently
