dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Absolutely. At the end of the day Wong is Marco Scutaro-lite which is a decent player but nothing to get all worked up about. I guess people like Wong because we have a hole at 2b and he's close to the majors. It also seems like he's the safer pick over Gose when comparing their swing profiles. Gose probably does have more upside though.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 The mlb.com Jays forum was very active, and like I said, most of us here migrated from that cesspool. It was active? I never noticed because I never stayed there long enough to notice. It was a hideous forum with a terrible layout. If I remember correctly, it had no quote function, all of it was just horrendous. Having moderated many forums before and even administrated a couple, I got used to presenting clean and sleek layouts to members on those boards and it just bothers me when a massive forum like one on an official sporting site looks like that.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Yeah we're kinda crazy lol. Welcome! Thank you, good sir -hat tip- Threads 583 Posts 63,418 Members 429 Active Members 329 Since May! Yeah, it's pretty amazing, never seen a forum pick up so fast before.

Yeah, probably one of the most active forums on mlb.com actually... It was ghastly though, and no ability to post images, which gives me a sads. http://www.sads.org/getattachment/9305054f-17ec-4593-ae8c-1509d5a689b8/SADS-International-Booth-at-HRS-Conference?maxSideSize=275
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Thank you, good sir -hat tip- Yeah, it's pretty amazing, never seen a forum pick up so fast before. It really has been great so far. If you have any knowledgeable Blue Jays fans from your last community please feel free to invite them over. The more the merrier.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 There were quite a few very active members on the mlb.com site, and since the switch we've been growing more and more every day. I'll get the word out if I come across any of the quality posters I know on other sites. As for the thread topic (before I derail it any further), I think one guy that the Jays should at least look into is Chase Headley. He's 29 years old and a free agent at the end of 2014, and I feel like the Padres will eventually waver out of contention. We could move one of the two between him and Lawrie to second base to solidify the infield for once, and he would come in handy when Lawrie inevitably goes down with injuries. He's also struggled as of late and having more than a year of service time left on his contract, he seems like an Anthopoulos guy. It really has been great so far. If you have any knowledgeable Blue Jays fans from your last community please feel free to invite them over. The more the merrier. Will do.

Improved layouts, better more customizable preferences, vastly superior mobile site, a decent moderator, less stringent rules/policies, the ability to give feedback provides an even better experience.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I know there is an OT forum but would it be possible to start an OT thread in the main Jays forum for off-topic Jays related things? For basically all the stuff that isn't exactly off-topic but is also not thread-worthy? OT threads work famously in other forums and I think with the activity here, they'd fly.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Where has this forum been all my life? I've been looking for an active Jays board for years, this one never popped up on my google results until today. Is it new? Welcome! This is new about the past month or two. It's mostly people from the old mlb.com board which had been wrecked by trolls.

Caper Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Would Anthony Gose for Chase Headly be an acceptable trade for both sides?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Would Anthony Gose for Chase Headly be an acceptable trade for both sides? Doubt the Pads take that. And apparently they see themselves as "buyers". http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heyman/22515046/padres-in-buy-mode-seek-a-starter-but-dont-expect-peavy-reunion
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Has anyone mentioned Chase Utley lately? I've been saying it since Spring Training and it makes even more sense now. Cheaper than Headley and we wouldn't have to move Lawrie.

Cheaper than Headley and we wouldn't have to move Lawrie. I think many posters including myself have been saying Chase Utley. According to some sources, the Phillies will shop Utley and Young hard at the deadline.

BarrysSyringe Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Utley's a fine rental acquisition. What do you think the price would be for a cliff lee and utley package?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 What do you think the price would be for a cliff lee and utley package? More than we could afford to give them. Plus Lee's salary is too much for us.
BarrysSyringe Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Very high. Gose+Burhle+Izzy+Osuna+Nolin+?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 More than we could afford to give them. Plus Lee's salary is too much for us. I will donate my month's salary then.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 IIRC Utley has a limited-no-trade-clause and Toronto is likely a no-no for him (oft-injured-infielders + astro-turf = no likey.) Could there be a possibility he waives that clause to come to a potentially contending team? Cause there's almost no doubt in my mind that Utley blacklisted T.O.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I will donate my month's salary then. Cliff Lee to the jays is a pipe dream. Although, I would have said the same about the Miami trade if someone had brought up the idea last season. I really don't know what the f*** AA will do next. I would not be shocked if he did something like Sanchez + Gose + Stroman + Osuna +++ for Lee and Utley + extension. Although that would make me puke.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Padres are gonna be looking for a pitcher BADLY if they can keep within a few games of the divison over the next little bit. Josh Johnson for Austin Hedges ...... Then to fill Johnson's spot, make a run at Cliff Lee or Yovani Gallardi with our very deep talent of young arms. Its very very doable.

Cause there's almost no doubt in my mind that Utley blacklisted T.O. You never know with players, but I would think he would waive it if the Jays are in a legit playoff push at the deadline. He'd be looking at 2 months + playoffs before becoming a free agent, so probably 30ish games (hopefully more). The value he could add to a new contract performing well in a playoff environment should trump any concerns about 30+ games on the turf.
