eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I hate the "Villa can't stick as a starter because of a lack of durability" narrative. Give the guy a chance. He's a good pitcher. He has several good pitches. The more his body gets used to being a starter... the more endurance he'll have...
Caper Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Maybe Esmil Rogers actually isn't a true piece of s*** gascan and is actually semi-legit. He used to primarily throw the 4 seamer and is now throwing a 2 seamer with much more regularity... and is having great success. This might not be a fluke. Maybe it is. But maybe it isn't. Come on man, at least keep an open mind.

All we can do is ride this out and deal with whatever happens when it does.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Rogers not really a fluke but will not keep up this pace.... Lind however I don't see it. He started getting in trouble the last couple years because he was trying to pull everything (Thanks Cito/Dm) but now he is going the other way a lot especially off of LHP. I think he is a .300 hitter with 25HR I don't think it is a Fluke that he is doing this. Chances are that one of the Jays' pleasant surprises will continue to be successful. However, as a team trying to contend the Jays need to prepare as if they wont. This team lacks depth all over the diamond and that needs to change to win a WS.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Inflammation is bad. Really bad. I speak from experience. Oh joy. Obviously I'm not a doctor but when I had inflammation in my shoulder I couldn't pitch for 10-12 weeks, but I had other s*** as well (torn rotator cuff, elbow tendonitis, the D-Mac special). TL;DR I'm not a doctor but get this f***er on the Delabar program

No, he will have the odd bad game like anyone, but what do you expect of him? What makes many here think hutch won't flop, and drabek..imo he's not even a starter. Rogers sinker is his best pitch right now, he's hardly a 2-pitch pitcher, not anymore.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Um Pass I thought you were trolling us there for a second. Austin Bibens-Dirkx does not even sound like a real name. I really can't think of a worse candidate to get a start. Don't confuse what I'm saying. I'm not saying that he's good. I'm saying that he has a history of messing hitters up that don't know him. For 1 and I do mean just 1 spot start, if I needed a guy, I'd go to him. History suggests the result would be far greater than what his talent would suggest. Don't discount what an unknown with a funky delivery can do. I'd DFA him the next day!
