Zaun was on Tim & Sid's show at 3 pm on June 13th.

https://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/tim-and-sid/id488721911

He was very candid & said the Jays should be sellers at the deadline if they are not in a playoff race.

Specifically, he said the Jays should move Johnson,Buerhle , JPA, Lawrie Izturis, Rajai Davis, & a player who can't bunt & plays sloppy defense. ( Boneface?)

Zaun said Bret Lawrie should hit 270 with 20 HR's.

Davis could be a useful a 4th OF for a playoff team

Tim & Sid said that JPA & Lawrie have low trade value now.

Zaun said Lawrie isn't producing, has attitude & behavior problems.

Zaun was upset with the errors the Jays were bad at playing sound fundamental baseball.

I doubt AA would trade all these players, but Johnson is the most likely to go.

Jays can do both.... The bullpen is so god damn deep, they have pieces to flip. Detroit can't win with the garbage they have in the pen.

It would be nice if he could find a trade that would send Johnson out the door for a pitching prospect that is about a year away / who could help us next year. Can't think of a scenario off-hand that would work for that, though.

Aaron Sanchez will be moved for some gas can bullpen arm or fringe #5 SP.

Really? They have one of the best and deepest pens in baseball and they are going to trade a top prospect for a gas can bullpen arm?

Posted
Don't be crazy... he'll be moved for Ethier.

That seems more likely to happen. Actually, it's only a matter of time when it happens.

FTFY. Our pen hasn't been great.

No it's been awesome. Wagner has been very good. Delabar has been very good. Loup has been very good. Juan Perez has been very good.

Those numbers are skewed by some of the garbage guys we were throwing out earlier.

I think that's what you will find as well.

Delabar and Wagner have xFIPs over 4. I'm still waiting and seeing on Perez. Oliver, 4.34 xFIP. Lincoln's been horrible. Rogers was bad. (was)

We haven't been bad but we aren't awesome. Loup, Janssen and Cecil are our only consistent quality relievers.

Yeah, overall this is a pretty solid pen. Janssen, Cecil, Loup and Delabar is a pretty solid back of the pen and Wagner looks like he may be another one if he can continue the way he has. Perez has been good too but I think his wildness is going to catch up to him.

Delabar has been very good this year.... Wagner hasn't had a huge sample... but I'm very comfortable seeing him come into a game.

Zaun praised the trades when they were made. I heard him compare JPA to Mike Piazza. I could see JJ or Buehrle being traded if a team offers something good, but Buehrle's contract makes him hard to move although the Blue Jays did get 8M from the Marlins if I remember correctly. I could see AA trading a couple of BP arms, hopefully for a young 2B.

But Delabar hasn't been great this year, lol, he's been decent.

We will have to disagree..I said he was very good.... and he has gotten better since he started.

I think it's only fair to point out that since 2002, mlb relievers on average have outperformed their xFIP every single year (correspondingly starters underperformed it)

But they have that funny horn!

It's ridiculous they get paid for spending 3 hours attempting unfunny jokes and reading tweets.

My co-worker blasts it daily and I swear I lose 3 IQ points after each show.

Not a hope in hell AA moves all those guys and he knows that . That is just Zaun being Zaun . I think he wants to be the baseball version of Don cherry .

What makes sense is moving Johnson ( IF he is pitching well ) and Oliver , Davis and any reliever out of the core .. If JJ and Oliver were pitching really well I can see them getting a pretty good prospect from St Louis for them Kolten Wong ?? . Again they would have to be back pitching great.

Posted
lets be fair gordie D , for a hugely overworked pen , it has been pretty decent and while they may be way over performing their FIP the huge workload could be the cause . I like the pen as it is and can see them lowering that FIP if their workload decreases .

Tim and Sid is a horrible radio show.

Not sure if srs.

Wow, people actually dislike Tim and Sid? I find that surprising.
