admin Site Manager Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 SSS yes, but both these guys have had great numbers in AAA. Yet they sit down there while AA gets his flavor of the week, throws them in close games, they bomb, and he gets rid of them. I'm sure Perez will have some control problems with 4.5 BB/9, but man, he has some filthy stuff, and was on today.
Tuco Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 You have to ask yourself why was Thad fricking Weber pitching for us instead of Wagner.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Kind of makes you wonder what AA is thinking. Not a good message to send throughout the organization. AA is a punk GM.
jaysfaithful8 Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 But Thad Weber is just such a cool name. Thad. For serious, Wagner looked like he could stick for a while with his stuff and hopefully Perez can keep it up, too.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Perez was good in ST. Kinda like a Luis Perez type of guy. Herky jerky delivery with some explosive stuff. He'll blow up like all gas cans evebtually do but you ride this bandwagon as far as you can.

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Well, for one thing, Juan Perez is a piece of s***.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 This seems a bit reactionary, no? One good outing does not make a reliever.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 What this says is that AA has a problem deciding which of the s***** pitchers he picks up for nothing should be in the MLB over AAA...

Who's rotting??..it's not even June.....there's lots of reason's why players are brought up and sent down..it's not like we sat on terrible relievers for several months..GM's make decisions..sometimes they are right..sometimes they are wrong. You'd think guys like storey and weber had been here for months by reading your post, but then you go the stats and see they both pitched less than 4 innings for the jays this year..lol...rotting...too funny.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 What this says is that AA has a problem deciding which of the s***** pitchers he picks up for nothing should be in the MLB over AAA... This is the AA bashing board..lol. Sure the guy has made mistakes...all GM's do. I just find it funny how much smarter everyone on this board is than AA.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 AA does not use anyone in close games...john gibbons does. And tell me, who supplies John Gibbons with the Thad Weber's of the world?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 The stuff did look exceptional, and neither of them walked a batter. More than just raw results. Oh I'm not arguing they could be good pieces, I just don't think now's the time to make a whole thread, still too early.

He went out there with all the talent he could muster and snagged a MLB gig. It is an extremely small sample but, with the way he looked tonight I don't expect him to go away without a fight either.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Juan walked 8 in 7 innings over 10 appearances for the Brewers last year and has walked more than 5 per every 9 AAA innings over 9 seasons. If it was in the plans to DFA him after this game they still should do so, it's truly not a loss. Wagner as I said last week has major league stuff. he's always been very hittable and gets hit cleanly (huge line drive rates against, including 31% this season). I made an assumption that he didn't have options, but it appears he does. I'd think that he may get sent down again but I figure he'll stay on the 40 man for a while. Here is the situation with approximate dates for when these things have to happen. There are currently 4 players on the 15 day DL Rajai Davis - Should be back soon, easy move Gose gets sent down Brett Lawrie - Whoever gets called up tomorrow gets sent down Johnson - Who knows, but one of these piece have to go Oliver - If Wagner has options, he's probably a victim of the numbers game by the time Oliver is back. On the 60 day is 7 more. That means by the end of the year that 7 more players have to be DFA'd. However of the 7 players on the 60 day at least 3 will be back before the all star game and all have to be added to the 25 man roster McGowan - June 11th is the date where he has to be added to both the 40 man and 25 man. Reyes - No idea when he's back but the only guy with options is Kawasaki. Fanbase will be livid but it's the smartest move for them. Happ - I imagine he'll be back close to his first date available to be back. The others probably max out their 30 days of rehab or don't pitch again this year. Buying the Jays more time. Anyway this is my list of order for DFA's at this point. 1. Perez (one good outing and maybe we can get more innings out of him somehow) 2. Weber - He's just not good and he'll be able to stay with the org as he's most likely clearing waivers. 3. Storey - See above 4. Crawford - He's got options I'd rather see him with the team next year than a bunch of these guys but he is just isn't a big deal 5. Romero - Has to be a thought at least 6. Gomez - Too many guys can play 1B before he should get a chance. If they think he can play 3B he might get the call tomorrow. And if that happens his DFA moves way up to 1 or 2 on my list. 7. Derosa or Izturis - Probably not going to happen. It's just a mess and if Morrow has to go on to the DL it's even worse. So anyway this is a long way around to say why guys aren't getting added to the 40 man...anyone who comes up now is probably going to be cut eventually.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Oliver - If Wagner has options, he's probably a victim of the numbers game by the time Oliver is back. Am I the only one unopposed to trading Oliver?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 And tell me, who supplies John Gibbons with the Thad Weber's of the world? same guy who supplied him Wagner and perez...why aren't you singing AA's praises for winning us this game..lol.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 same guy who supplied him Wagner and perez...why aren't you singing AA's praises for winning us this game..lol. Is that the same guy who ensured that Esmil f***ing Rogers was spot starting? I dunno why you're so vigorously defending the guy.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Am I the only one unopposed to trading Oliver? nope...but i'm not sure what you will get for him..it's his last year....doesn't mean you shouldn't try and get something for him, but no one is going to trade for him until he's back and pitched some games.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 If anyone offers so much as a 20th ranked organizational prospect I'd send him out. Save a bit of cash and pick up a an asset. I'm afraid he may be done. He certainly looked it. He's lost the magical vetrin presents of last year, now he's just kinda there and starting to smell. I don't think I'd even need a prospect, just ship him out for some org guy like Negrych and save the cash and free up a BP spot.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Is that the same guy who ensured that Esmil f***ing Rogers was spot starting? I dunno why you're so vigorously defending the guy. I defend and cheer for all the jays..lol. How did that Rogers decision work out? All the experts on this board were certain it would be a failure....nope....shut out....10 straight shut out innings for Rogers as a matter of fact.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Am I the only one unopposed to trading Oliver? Trade deadline last year was a chance to get out of a roster management mess but they just made a bigger mess of it. I don't expect them to make intelligent moves this year either. If Oliver is willing to except a trade by all means he should be dealt, regardless it's probably got to happen after he's added back to the 25 man. Guys that should absolutely be dealt are Oliver, Rajai and Boni. Just are you going to trade them for guys that don't need to be added to the 40 man? Josh Johnson should be moved too. However we have to have 5 starters for that to happen.
