Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 If Reyes can hit anywhere close to where he did before the injury this offense will be scary.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Reyes Bautista EE Lind Melky Rasmus JPA/Thole Izturis Kawasaki ???
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 We don't have any board regulars in the Dunedin area do we??? I think landingdoc was, but he doesn't seem to post these days.
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Reyes Bautista EE Lind Melky Rasmus JPA/Thole Izturis Kawasaki ??? Sucks that Lawrie has tanked so badly this season. Reyes-Jose-EE-Lind-Cabrera-Rasmus-Lawrie is a extremely strong top 7.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Reyes Bautista EE Lind Melky Rasmus JPA/Thole Izturis Kawasaki ??? Isnt Lawrie due back soon as well?
IronLadle Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Why don't we send down a reliever with options? That way we don't lose anybody and we are already carrying one extra - Derosa is the guy I'd part with if we're keeping an extra reliver
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Isnt Lawrie due back soon as well? He is probably about a month away
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 He should be back in less than a week. June 24th. If he is really comfy quickly and all is well he could return on the 21st.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 That's the date, barring any setbacks of course, I saw as well Kirk.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Just heard on the Fan, Reyes will be in Buffalo this weekend.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 It was very optimistic to think he'd be activated for Friday against the O's. I think it's a good decision to activate him on the road as he might feel a bit of pressure being activated at home. I also thought they might not want to activate him at home because of the hard surface, but he may end up being activated at TB, so that's out the window.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Reyes was aiming for the 27th v Boston a few weeks ago. Now the 24th seems to be the date. That's amazing! I don't think that the club really expected him back until a week into July. * I personally wouldn't be shocked to see him return on the Sunday for the last game v Baltimore
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Friday against the O's, can't see it.... Reyes needs to get his timing down against AAA pitching first

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 Lol pressure? An MLB player should not be affected by the pressure of being activated at home. A 9 year MLB veteran no less
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 Gibby sez Reyes will play 3 games in Buffalo and then they'll re-assess Bisons play tomorrow hopefully?
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 They've essentially announced that Reyes will be activated Monday. The Bisons announced that they have Reyes for 3 games and are using it in their marketing.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 Reyes not playing today? I was going to make a GDT of the Bisons game today when I though Reyes was playing in it.
fireballW Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Can Reyes hit worse than Izturis or Kawasaki? The guy is healthy and I doubt he will lose any confidence if he doesn't hit .300 right out of the gate. Forget Buffalo and get him up here for Baltimore.
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Did he play 9 innings? My understanding was they are easing him in...
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Did he play 9 innings? My understanding was they are easing him in... Not yet. They are going to have him play 2-3 9inning games in Buffalo is my understanding to see how is ankle reacts. If everything is a go there is no reason we will not see him playing against Tbay

Don't think it's about the hitting, probably making sure the ankle is ready for the baseball grind.
fireballW Verified Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Don't think it's about the hitting, probably making sure the ankle is ready for the baseball grind. Yeah I hear what they are saying, but it doesn't register with me. Reyes' injury was more brutal than anything I've had, but I've at least had a very seriously sprained ankle before. With something like a groin pull I'd understand because even once it feels better it can be super easy to reaggravate, but once the pain goes away in an injury like Reyes', you are pretty much good to go. I don't know how playing more innings will change things if he can steal bases and go first to third already. Yeah I'm sure he can continue strengthening it, but it isn't one of those things that is a big risk to re-injure. I really don't see him coming to the bench after 5 innings and being like "I just can't to the last four." Once they started letting him run full tilt it pretty much meant he was okay to me. I doubt they'd be letting him steal bases unless he was pain free.
