You mean deduction? :P

He could mean induction.... If he is using his powers to make it happen... At least that's what the online dictionary tells me.

I think induction is actually correct here. I think in general, deduction is knowing the conclusion and guessing the details, while induction is knowing the details and guessing the conclusion.

Haha, I wasn't trying to be a grammar nazi, but might as well go all the way at this point :P

define: induce

succeed in persuading or influencing (someone) to do something.

"the pickets induced many workers to stay away"

define: deduce

arrive at (a fact or a conclusion) by reasoning; draw as a logical conclusion.

"little can be safely deduced from these figures"

I think maybe you were looking for the word "infer"

define: infer

deduce or conclude (information) from evidence and reasoning rather than from explicit statements.

"from these facts we can infer that crime has been increasing"

Haha, no problem. I'm always willing to learn something. However, I still think induction was correct lol :P

But there seems to be many different meanings for these words and they seem to mean different things in different fields or conditions. I guess I was thinking of induction/deduction in terms of how they're used in science.

BA did the A,s top ten Barreto number two, Graveman number six and Nolin number seven. The Jays have traded away a lot of talent in the last few years that rank high on others boards.

All that means is that the Jays system is incredibly strong, and the systems we've traded to have generally been weak.

Travis was #1 in the Tigers' system, became #9 in ours (according to MLB.com, he's not on the list that came out this morning..)

Anthony Alford is hitting .279/.380/.419 in his last 50 PA in the ABL since Nov 14.

If he turns it around, it's almost like found money.

He's always had the tools, lets hope when he add some focus its a winning combination.

Except we paid him $750K to do 2 years ago what he's finally doing now.

So much draft money goes directly into the toilet, $750K for Alford 2 years ago has been written off already.

Exactly, all the draft money is basically flushed because most players don't turn out. Alford did not look like he'd be a player before because of football, now he does.

Where does he start the year single a or higher?

Lansing or Dunedin probably, it could depend on how he does in minor league spring training. He's invited to MLB spring training as well.

Few Jays related things from McDaniel's FG prospect chat today:

Comment From Jheff

Does Jeff Hoffman have similarities to Lucas Giolito?

12:52

Kiley McDaniel: Peak stuff is pretty similar. if anything, Hoffman has the better changeup and I think his delivery is a little better, too. Both have TJ in the rear view and we haven’t seen Hoffman show the velo is back yet, so have to wary until that happens.

Comment From Jimmy

Have you seen Devon Travis in person? Is there anything there that gives you an idea of whether his hit tool will be able to cross to the majors? He has relatively low K rates and an average-ish BB rate, but I guess I’m wondering if he’s the kind of prospect who at age 24 is doomed for AAAA status, or if he’s ready to make the leap and be a productive major leaguer this year?

12:54

Kiley McDaniel: Saw Travis in AFL last year. I’ll refer you to the link I gave earlier in the chat about prospect failure. All you answers are in here and the linked providence journal piece http://www.fangraphs.com/bl…

That’s to say that no one knows, but those pieces explain why.

He also said Norris has more stuff and upside than Heany, with the latter having more command.

I think Alford might have been injured. Got replaced after 2 at bats yesterday and didn't play today. Couldn't find any reports or articles saying if he was injured or not though.

Was there a football field nearby that he could have ran away to?

Well his wife was at the game today and still looking happy!

BTW, one of the other ladies in the photo commented on the picture, saying it was a "very cold night". Admittedly I don't have the ability to tell the exact temperature from simply looking at a photo, but brb moving to Australia if that's considered very cold.

That woman on the right looks like a cardboard cut-out from the waist up.

That looks like nacho cheese on fries with some sort of petroleum product in place of gravy...
