Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Was reading that Hollon was sitting around 92 last night. Norris was low 90's and touched 95....and what was a little disturbing was that Jairo Labourt topped out around 90 and was sitting high-80's. That's unlike him and not a good sign. Hope it's just the stadium gun being off. definitely not good
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Noticed Matt Boyd is on MILBtv tonight. Is there a special discount for Milbtv if you have MLBTV?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Good to see Hollon starting off well. I was a big fan of picking him out of high school. Another good young arm.

Hope it's just the stadium gun being off. Hollon was usually 92-94 when I saw him at the PG National, and he can sometimes touch 96-97 according to reports. Is sitting 92 considered a bad thing? I mean if he's topping out at 92, that's a different story.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Boyd gave up a leadoff HR to Darrin Mastrioni of all people.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 The tall Tinaco outing: 6 IP, ER, walk, 4 K's
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Ya. I'm not worried about sitting 92. I want to see how this season goes for him seeing as he's coming back from TJ. Clinton Hollon was on Charlie Caskeys VanCs podcast. He confirmed he was sitting 91-93 T94 but he said he's been a better pitcher with a tad lower velo, mentioned he gets more sink on his fastball and commands his pitches better. Said (following TJS) that he feels better than he ever has since his sophomore year in high school. Spring training 2014 he was sitting 88-90 so they went to get see Dr. James Andrews and they confirmed he had a more significant tear than when he was drafted (40% when drafted, but his velo was fine and he didn't have any pain). He also said he's very inconsistent right now in that some days he can have wicked offspeed stuff and other days it'll get blown out of the park by hitters.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Side note: Adam Loewen, Canadian and former Blue Jay has struck out 10 batters in 4 innings in their series against Buffalo. He reconverted to a pitcher? Lol
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Lol Jim Czajowski (Vancouver pitching coach) said Hoffman thought college ball was close to MLB in talent level, so he was a bit cocky when he was dominating extended spring guys. Says having a mid 4s ERA in Dunedin (compared college d1 to high a) will hopefully wake him up a bit.

King Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Lol this guy tells it like it is. He was asked about Boyd (gave a good review) and then Cole and said that theres a point when some players top out (ex. level, AA) and Cole might have reached his point. Suggested he will probably have to move to the bullpen, and he's going to have to be very, very good (much better than he is now) to carve out an MLB career. He also said Smoral was moved to Dunedin because he couldn't handle the grind of extended spring training (hot florida weather, 50 other guys, early morning workouts) so they put him Dunedins bullpen for a change of scenery. He would have started the year in Lansing but he had back/shoulder problem.
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 He also said Cardona was just about to be placed on Dunedins roster but the day before he had another elbow injury, then surgery and now he's out for the year.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Should I be happy excited or impressed by this Shane Dawson kid, can he be legit?
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 What you mean by crafty and at 21 he can't improve he is what he is and hit his max potential ? He strikes out almost a batter per inning and what walks 2 per 9 this is not crafty?
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Bluefield team has arrived in Bluefield. I suspect a roster will be released tomorrow Perdomo, Brentz and Wells are confirmed on the team. Dean Bell is there too

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Travis 2-4 with a BB. Hopefully he's starting to find it offensively, we need him back up here performing like he did in April.

nonamejays Verified Member Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Are there any guys in the upper end of the system that could get called into action in the bull pen much like Sanchez last year? I'm sure Boyd could but who else?
