TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Just got Tix to see Syndergaard's debut at Wrigley tonight. Dude had a 1.82 ERA in Vegas...SSS but for those who remember when the Jays had their Triple-A team there, that league/stadium inflates pitcher stats like crazy, so that sparkling ERA is even better than it seems.

Sanchez debuted first. He's better pitcher for that reason.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Anthony Alford 2-3. Alford is really bueno at beisbol. JD Davis, the good one, 1-3, .415 AVG
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 FAP Comment From Nick If Jeff Hoffman were available, where would he go in this draft? Kiley McDaniel Well we haven't seen the post-TJ stuff in a game yet, but seems like he's all back. I'd take current Hoffman 1-1 in this draft and might take him over Rodon as 1-1 in last year's draft, too. I said healthy Hoffman (pre-TJ) was clearly my top prospect in last year's draft and this year's draft is weaker.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Comment From Chad What do you see from Hoffman this year? Does he reach the Jays in 2015? As SP or RP? Kiley McDaniel SP, 2016 at the earliest

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I think AA is crazy enough to bring up Hoffman at the deadline
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I think AA is crazy enough to bring up Hoffman at the deadline based on last year I'd be surprised if he's not in MLB in September. August is possible depending how things are going
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Your question on Sanchez was answered too. High leverage relief future! ya, I was hoping for more of a "he's young with good stuff" kind of answer
spats Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I could watch that over and over again That's the breaking ball and batter reaction I saw so many times live in extended spring...wish I was still there, especially since he'll be starting in Dunedin.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Sanchez debuted first. He's better pitcher for that reason. Syndergaard is better now. Future, who knows.
nmrch Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Alford 2-4 with 2B, 2K, 1 BB He's a Three True Outcomes guy if you replace homeruns with doubles, 61% of his plate appearances have ended in a K or a BB or a 2B After those ugly numbers in Australia i was really down on him but he's turning into something interesting. You can live with the high K rate if those doubles start turning into homeruns.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Not really, the periphs are all there just has had bad babip luck. Needs to just develop the defense and we may have a stud. Didn't look at babip. Kid needs to learn to aim his line drives.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Hard to aim line drives when you're not hitting them http://i.imgur.com/RkziFVd.png seems like he has quite the uppercut swing. I wonder if those flyballs are hard contact or if he just doesn't strikeout because he is hitting weak flyballs.

His stat line throughout his MiLB career seems to show very good discipline, I might just have to guess this batting line is an outlier.
StroShow Verified Member Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) Castro 3 BBs, 3 Ks through 2 IP. On a 40 pitch limit so likely done. nvm he's back in. andddd now he's out after Hague fielding error on first batter of 3rd inning. Seemed like Castro was getting ahead often but he tried to hit corners for the third strike and it extended counts. Edited May 12, 2015 by StroShow

If he is starting perhaps he should be in NH/Dunedin

Poor guy, rushed early but I believe he'll right the ship once he realizes he's better then those other prospects

If you're not missing bats when you're ahead in the count you give up a lot of foul balls and if you don't have command of the strike zone you allow them to not swing at pitches out of the zone

I can only go off the radio play by play. Lefties were seeing him well and he didn't generate a ton of swinging strikes.
