John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Lugnuts had the bases loaded with 2 outs, tied in the bottom of the ninth. Batter hits a groundball single, but Nessy(who was the runner on 1b) stopped running to 2b and turned around to join the mob of celebration. CF picked up the ball and ran to 2B with it, therby ending the inning with a force out, so the run didn't count, then the away team won the game in the 11th. THey had to point it our to the umps, who then had to confer to make sure it happened like that, who originally ruled that the run stands because the runner crossed the plate first ending the game (which of course is wrong in a force out situation) then they had to go into the Lugnuts dressing room and bring them back out onto the field to restart the game.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I don't understand, what matters is that the batter reached first base and then what needs to happen is that a runner from 3rd reached home plate before the out, am i wrong?
flafson Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 So what's the difference between that and bases loaded 2 out, batter hits for extra bases, thinks he can make it to 3rd but tagged out?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/prospect-hot-sheet-july-5/ IN THE TEAM PHOTO D.J. Davis, cf, Blue Jays: The 17th pick in last year’s draft tripled in three straight games for Rookie-level Bluefield beginning on Saturday, showcasing gap power and plus speed. The 18-year-old Davis also stole three bases and scored eight runs in five games, and he’s now hitting .294/.357/.529 with an Appalachian League-leading seven extra-base hits through 51 at-bat. Marcus Stroman, rhp, Blue Jays: OK, so it’s been a brief pro career, but Stroman set a career high with 13 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings for Double-A New Hampshire on Tuesday. He’s up to 50 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings for the Fisher Cats. NOT SO HOT Roberto Osuna, rhp, Blue Jays: Osuna missed all of May with elbow soreness and, perhaps coincidentally, he has not looked sharp his last three times out for low Class A Lansing, allowing 18 hits and 17 runs over nine innings. A seven-run drubbing over 1 2/3 innings this week was a typical performance during this downturn. The 18-year-old has gone 3-5, 5.53 through 10 starts this season but with an excellent 4.6 K-BB ratio.

Caper Verified Member Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Oh oh, look out Sanchez gave up 7 runs on 6 hits while throwing 3 innings today...... Injury resurfaces??? 4 earned.... wait and see.... in other news Norris has pitched 1 inning today so far for Lansing. 1 hit 3k's.

Hope all is well, but that article was dated June 19 and Osuna was DL'd on the weekend
Caper Verified Member Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I was listening to the Lansing broadcast today and there was a tonne of love for Emilio Guerrero. Is he a legit prospect? Numbers sure don't stand out... but 6'4" and 190 means there is a tonne of filling out to do. Lots of limbs right now.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Does anyone know why Nolin was taken out after pitching 5 innings and throwing 60 pitches, maybe a rain delay? I'd promote Stroman and Nolin right away. So Sanchez struggled and can't go past 3 innings anymore, I need to see more from this guy, Syndergaard is leaving him way behind.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Too reactionary bro... Jays are holding him back. He's gone 3 innings every start since he came back from injury, even when he's dominating. You're right, it's just frustrating, I hope he's not injured. I do find that this franchise babies its pitchers a bit much in the low minors and it's not like they're not seeing injuries.
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 Asher Wojciechowski threw a one-hit shutout on 97 pitches tonight. 5 K, 1 BB. Has put up some great numbers in the PCL this year. Opposing starter was Brad Mills lol. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2013_07_08_orhaaa_rreaaa_1&t=g_box&did=milb&sid=t238 Good thing we traded him for BP help last year. We really needed it.
ReturnOfTheYeti Verified Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Dickie Thon is having a better year. Last night's game he also scored the winning run from 2B on a sac fly.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Jon Rauch ceiling Much better stuff then Rauch and I think he can be a Joe blanton type for that. 200 innings of high 3's era or low 4's era. Thats much more valuable then Rauch
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Tirado and Labourt teamed up again for another great game. 6IP 4H 1BB 4K combined.

Is there a single position player I should be following on Dunedin?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Right. Is there a single position player I should be following on Dunedin? Berti knows how to draw a walk at least, he may be a 25th man someday but I doubt even that. It's not really a group of hitters to get excited about
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 The high school catcher we took this year, Dan Jansen is having a good start to his career in the GCL albeit in a small sample. 2-4 2r 2(2b) 1rbi 1bb .381/.519/.476 3rbi 2(2b) 6bb 1so
