They announced with great fanfare that they would have more player in the database this year but instead if just feels more arbitrary than usual. There are several players with a pretty clear path that are missing and many without any real chance that are there.

 

There's zero reason for Contreras to be there and someone like Mike Clevinger not to be. It just seems completely arbitrary.

This is frustrating. I did a lot of work cross-checking the top minor leaguers with the Yahoo! database and our ownership spreadsheet and then didn't do enough with that information. I'm like the GM who doesn't listen to his analytic team except that were the same person.

 

I knew in the back of my mind that he probably wasn't owned in DDL, but he wasn't on my waiver draft radar until last night, and then my heart rate spiked a bit.

Wow, I totally missed the deGrom trade this offseason. Shocked to see Silvergun move him honestly. Not that it didn't make sense, he plugged a lot of holes and he still has a ridiculous rotation

North's team is the one team in that tier that I could see missing the playoffs. Guys like Beltre, Hanley, Kemp, and Lowrie are all pretty high-risk, and Porcello, Hellickson, Cain, Anderson and Duffey is a lot of mediocrity in the rotation. Also, North is probably the most astute roster manager in the league, and he won't be running things this year.
