TRM Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I'm glad I didn't end up adding in MSP in there. He nearly was the full price that landed me EJ, haha!
TRM Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I would have taken him if I had heard about the trade to St. Louis earlier that day. Also, I don't know how you feel about Berglund's likelihood of becoming Plekanec, or about Plekanec's longevity, but the price from Cam for Pleks was Berglund and Mayfield. I strongly considered making that deal. Noted. Thanks for the headsup. I am in a cap crunch right now, but I will keep that in mind. Anyways, lets take this 2m4b circle jerk offline. These fellas don't have to listen to it...
Nox Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I'm going to slap the wallet hard for Buxton in that auction. Be prepared to top my entire budget if you want him. I'm pretty comfortable with my Trout/Stanton/Harper/Heyward OF/Util for the foreseeable future. But rest assured, you'll be paying top $.

TRM Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Aww, you Darrells have a 4-team league going! Does this mean we can tell them about the Normans league?
TRM Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 You've already said too much. I'm so incompetent, I may as well be a Darrell
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Sorry, what? And he's in 7th / 12

Nox Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Sorry, what? 12 team league. Drafted ok, got a bit unlucky and started losing despite having real assets and decided to tear down my entire team to acquire that as my core. I'm missing the playoffs this year. Drafted Heyward. Traded Votto plus Aramis Ramirez plus Kuroda for Trout preseason. (This is a wOBA league and Votto is a beast. Who knew Trout would laugh at the idea of regressing to the mean). Traded Matt Moore + Chris Davis for Harper (right in the middle of Harper's knee troubles). Bought Stanton (would have to explain the economic system in the league. Nobody cares enough to be reading this post let alone that explanation). Edit: actually it was for a shitload of $ plus Taijuan Walker.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 if anyone is a believer in Junior Lake, I'd like to move him for an upgrade. Maybe Lake and one of my relievers for a top holds guy or any saves guy

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 My farm is more mediocre than I care for it to be. Graduated: Anthony Rendon, video game numbers in AA and should be an elite option at 3B in the near future, moreso if he can also keep 2B eligibility (or vice versa) On the farm: Carlos Correa: pretty happy about how he's turning out, 153 wRC+ in the MWL as a 19 year old. Seems like the Astros are taking him along pretty slowly. David Dahl: destroyed his leg after playing 10 games, probably done for the rest of the year. I think he will eventually be a Yelich type that gets to play in Coors. Jose Berrios: was really dominant for his first few starts and then just started walking more and striking out less. Jesse Winker: 137 wRC+ as a 19 year old in A-ball. Austin Meadows: a lulzy 173 wRC+ in the GCL. I expect him to be a top 20 prospect very soon. Triples machine. Billy McKinney: 119 wRC+ but doesn't strike out too much and I like the cut of his jib. Justin Williams: 137 wRC+ in the GCL, and has had a hot start in the pioneer league. Doesn't walk enough and strikes out a lot but I absolutely love his swing. Riley Unroe: 123 wRC+ but 17% BB rate is fantastic for such a young player. That + being a Rays prospect gives me high hopes. Dom Smith: he's been mediocre but I think the power will develop. I'm probably wrong, though. Jon Denney: takes walks and doesn't do much else. Austin Wilson: *PUKES* I traded away Delino DeShields (who has been ok I guess), Gary Sanchez (132 wRC+, but I've wanted Luebke all season) and that's it I think.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 My Farm: Graduated: Yasiel Puig - I'll keep him in my minors until next year. Jackie Bradley Jr. - Only prospect that was drafted as a prospect that is on my Major league roster. Matt Davidson - Didn't even realise this guy was up in the majors until now, must be doing something right, 22 Years old. On the Farm: Joey Gallo - Still mashing, still K'ing, Would like him to bring up his average. Mason Williams - Was hitting good, But has been in a bad slump for almost a month now. Mark Appel - In class A, pitching well for his first taste of the pros. Rafael de Paula - Dominated A earlier this year, Stumbled at A+ his first couple starts but is coming around. Rafael Montero - Was the starter for the Futures game. He's been good-verygood, even in the PCL. Phil Bickford - This **** is going to college Delino DeShields - Hitting over .300 with an OBP of almost .400. Fastest guy not named Hamilton. Matt Purke - Dominated A-ball, Sucking in +A-ball. Only guy I don't care a whole lot for on my farm. James Paxton - Cut down on his walks this year and working in the PCL. Couple 10+K games. Jorge Soler - Gonna be the next Cuban Star, currently injured. Traded away: C Yelich, A Heaney, T Glasnow, AJ Cole, R Erlin
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Apparently Mason Williams has huge makeup/attitude issues.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Apparently Mason Williams has huge makeup/attitude issues. Are you saying this because of his DUI? Or are there other examples or have other players and coaches said things? I'm starting to get quite a collection of those types... Puig, A-Rod, Lawrie, PED Cabrera, Former crackhead Hamilton.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Apparently Mason Williams has huge makeup/attitude issues. While usually this is an auto-label that goes on anyone that gets arrested, with Mason it was a label he had before the arrest. I wish his Trenton call-up happened before the game I went to it would have been interesting to see him that close. Here is what Sickels said after the arrest. Williams is a left-handed hitter with excellent athletic ability, speed, and defensive skills. Talent evaluators say that his biggest problem is immaturity: he irritated coaches and scouts with a substandard work ethic at times last year, failing to run out ground balls and demonstrating a poor attitude. It was felt that he was young enough to outgrow any personality issues, although this incident will resurrect makeup concerns.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 If anyone needs a catcher, I will trade John Buck for literally anything.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 :'( My pitching is so bad... Yordano, Hultzen, Bundy... you can't come quick enough

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I REALLY don't wanna see FTD in the playoffs. Haha we get to face off the last week, right before the playoffs. Just 14-0 me that week so I don't even make it there.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 FARM REPORT- Go look it up yourselves, I ain't writing all that s***. Haha you and me both! I thought about it but got lazy after doing one player.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Just a little over a week left before the trade deadline. Anyone looking for a 3rd Baseman? I have a few that would anchor a good team and help in the playoffs. They range from dirt cheap to an ass raping price. Brett Lawrie would be the most expensive, and chances are you'd have to overpay to get him. But some more affordable pieces are possiable Batting Champ - Chris Johnson, and Alex Rodriguez who is hitting like his old self. The cheapest options would be Brett Wallace, 10HR in 45Gms and Matt Tuiasosopo, .900 OPS, both of who could fill in and not hurt you.
