Auto-pick is great as long as we have a commissioner is familiar with it, and knows how to undo things in case a mistake happens.

I love that I can set a couple guys in the queue, and have it pick while I'm sound asleep, so I don't hold up the draft. If you don't set up autopick, then you still have your 12 hours to figure out your pick.

 

It really only hurts people that take over 12 hours AND can't be bothered to make their picks on time.

Things happen. Sometimes you set a dozen guys in your queue and they all get taken. Not everyone has time or desire to rank 100 guys in their queue. Autopick also just takes the top ranked player statwise for next year which is usually some guy that's not worth rostering, and is in no way considered a prospect.

Ok, each manager can set their own rules in the draft. If your queue is empty, it just waits the full 12 hours for you to make the pick.

So, the only way it autodrafts a random is if you exhaust your full 12 hours without making a pick, and you don't put anyone in your queue.

 

And generally during the first few rounds, if the commissioners will pause the draft if someone is about to miss a pick.

I've actually been incredibly quick with my picks in the past (even when I was in NWT and had no internet), but man it's tempting every year to use my entire window, just to hear the crying. We have a window, it's okay if someone has to use the entire thing.

 

At the end of the draft everyone always seems to say, f*** that draft went faster than expected.
