BTS Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Ronald Acuna promoted to AA yesterday. I don't really get this. He's 19 all season, and his K-rate went from 16% to 32% after his A+ promotion. He still has a 132 wRC+, but this seems like a weirdly aggressive decision.

The Braves have been ultra aggressive with their prospects. Soroka and Allard are working out though. Acuna, Albies, Soroka, Allard are all 20 or under and in the upper levels of the minors, and Swanson was clearly promoted too soon.

They keep skipping prospects over the Florida State League which is weird. I could understand if they had a Cal League team with a run environment through the roof, but the FSL?

I could understand if they had a Cal League team with a run environment through the roof, but the FSL? And they just got a new FSL team! The Fire Frogs! http://firefrogs.milbstore.com/store/Vendor210/graphics/hdr_florida_logo.png Probably one of my favourite team names. Up there with the Savannah Bananas, Daytona Tortugas, and Beloit Snappers.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 I think I've heard that sometimes hitting prospects get skipped past FSL because it's an extreme pitcher's league and destroys their confidence. Or some s*** like that.

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2017 Author Posted May 10, 2017 Jeimer Candelbro is hitting cleanup in his debut tonight, ahead of Baez, Russell, Contreras. Hmmmm...

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 BTS can I get a Broxton price check, please? You're welcome.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 BTS can I get a Broxton price check, please? You're welcome. I'm holding. The numbers are back to what I hoped they'd be.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 I'm holding. The numbers are back to what I hoped they'd be. Yeah that .408 BABIP to go along with a near 40% strikeout rate and a reduced walk rate are definitely the signs you're looking for that a player is back.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 I'm looking to move Jayson Werth. Should be cemented in as the Nats #2 with Eatonout for the year. Looking for a prospect, or comparable veteran SP

He's always going to strikeout. The question is whether he hits the ball hard enough when he does make contact to contribute 15+ homers and 40 steals with a playable slash. So far in his career that's been the case.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Jeimer Candelbro is hitting cleanup in his debut tonight, ahead of Baez, Russell, Contreras. Hmmmm... What's going on with the Cubs 3B situation anyways? Are they planning to make Kris Bryant a full time outfielder?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 What's going on with the Cubs 3B situation anyways? Are they planning to make Kris Bryant a full time outfielder? No, Bryant's played all but 2 games at 3rd. Candelario was the 26th man because of the double header, I believe.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 What's going on with the Cubs 3B situation anyways? Are they planning to make Kris Bryant a full time outfielder? They're saying Bryant might fill in at RF some while Heyward is injured.

Sure, I knew that actually but they used La Stella at 3B in the other game of the double header which I probably should have mentionned as part of the reason why I was asking the question.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 They're saying Bryant might fill in at RF some while Heyward is injured. O.K. That explains it. Works for me as I'm trying to squeeze out some La Stella starts in LOD.

That k rate is actually normalizing, and Broxton will run high BABIPs because he has elite exit velo and wheels. He can go 20/40 with counting stats and a .340+ OBP. He's a very interesting CF asset in our format. Nobody is saying he's elite.

I see, must be the injury to Heyward as TCA said, plus the double header... They still have Schwarber/Jay/Almora/Zobrist and Bryant that can play the OF, I even think Contreras has played the OF before. That team is so stacked and versatile.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Anybody want Matt Duffy for a draft pick or waiver upgrade? He's expected back in May sometime.

Coupled with an 11.1 BB% over that same span, and he's looking mighty intriguing.

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 10, 2017 Author Posted May 10, 2017 I'm planning on deactivating the DDL ProBoards in a few days. I guess it's obsolete?
