Laika Community Moderator Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I can take a look. If it's something a lot of people want, but I don't want to change the whole system because a couple of people really want it (sorry!). Yeah I think most of the people who PM would appreciate it. The storage capacity of PMs is very low right now too.
admin Site Manager Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I didn't even know so many of you guys PM (no one PMs me ). Okay I'll take a look at some alternatives. I'm sure there are some options out there.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Storage is one of the issues for sure, but the bigger one for me is the layout. Having multiple nested quotes within the same message gets super frustrating. A thread style PM is much cleaner.

It's not a massive deal to clear the PMs every once in a while but the quote system is just gross
admin Site Manager Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 . Agreed Yeah For Not as many options as I thought there were out there. Would this be okay: http://i.imgur.com/eItuGfW.jpg

admin Site Manager Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Any progress on this Juiced? Just got back from vacation. I'll get this done over the next week, maybe two, when I have some free time.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 how dare you not do this on your vacay
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Dearest Lord Jo1sey, I understand that o2 is your choice for head moderator and that's fine I guess since he seems to have ceased antagonizing people and then banning them when they retaliate, but can we please just have the ability to ignore his public posts? Is that an option available? Maybe we can still receive PMs but at least aren't subjected to the cancerous idiocy he displays on a daily basis? Sincerely, Everyone who posts in the politics thread
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 anyone having and issue with this site randomly not responding to the scroll wheel? Using Chrome. Only happens on this tab. I have to close this tab and open a new one to get it to work again. Weird. Anyone else or is it a f*** up on my end?
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Have mods given any thought to going through with people's recommendation to have moderator approval of new accounts before they can post? It would get rid of the twice-daily Viagra and cialis adds.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Mod approval please or at least a waiting period before you can post. It's getting worse and it will get worse still.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 The research into mod approval for new accounts must be yielding some pretty compelling issues if they warrant continuing to put up with all of these spam posts.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 The research into mod approval for new accounts must be yielding some pretty compelling issues if they warrant continuing to put up with all of these spam posts. Just a one or two day waiting period before you can post on a new account should be sufficient to curb a lot of it. I'm sure the people that do this probably post on thousands of boards a day. I doubt they want to keep track of usernames and passwords for multiple days. If it is automated, the code may not be able to handle a delay properly either.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Is it possible to ban usernames containing certain words? It's clear that all of these bots have awaymN at the end of the username.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 That seemed like forever that the site was down.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 So is this just the new norm for the site? Taking 30 seconds to load every page? s*****
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Got a tech question for all you computer wiz's out there. A few days ago this site started loading excruciatingly slow. I figured it was another attack so didn't think much of it. It was fine when I logged on at work the next day... great! But when I got home, same deal, slow as balls. Like 20+ seconds to load any page or refresh. This has been consistent, good at work, s*** here. Its even the same ISP at both locations. Happens on devices I use at both locations (laptop and mobile), so it must be my network at home I assume. I tried resetting my router, using a different browser, anything I could think of. It's annoying AF.... HALP!

It's annoying AF.... HALP! Try pinging the site at home and at work (go to command prompt, type in ping bluejaysmessageboard.com). That will give you the round trip times with nothing else going on that could affect it. If they're wildly different, then try tracing it (tracert bluejaysmessageboard.com), and see if it takes roughly the same path. This will help you either point at or eliminate the things outside of your control.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 thanks A-bomb I'll give it a try when I get to the office tomorrow. I did a few pings from home and I'm actually getting faster times on here than some other sites around. I've never used the tracert fucntion, whats it do? I just ran it an I assume a bunch of the timing out is a bad thing
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Not necessarily bad. Some nodes (I think) don't respond to the pings. If there was something really problematic in terms of delay, you'd likely still capture it if I understand it right. If that's working okay and similarly on both, then you can move on to looking at other things. It could be the site itself, but you shouldn't get the variation you are if it is. Maybe some ad is killing things. If you open the developer tools (chrome or firefox), you can reload the page and see what's taking the time to load.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 welp, the results are the same. I'll try the developer tool idea tonight and see if I can narrow it down. Only other thing I can think of is its something in my router/network settings because it happens on any device I use on the network.
